Peter was walking around the Black Lake one crisp June morning, lost in thought.

Coincidentally, Savannah Stone happened to be doing the exact same thing. It was nearing the end of the year and she and Dalton still had no place to go. It got to the point where she hardly slept, constantly worrying about what they were going to do. Most mornings, instead of laying in bed with nothing to keep her mind off of it, she took a walk around the grounds. Savannah also knew she wouldn't be able to concentrate on studying for exams that early in the morning, so a walk it was. She had gotten quite familiar with the grounds, even some hidden passageways she previously had no idea had existed.

"Pete!" She called, jogging to catch up with him.

He turned sharply, quickly shoving the currently blank Marauder's Map in his pocket. "Sava," Peter greeted her with a nod.

"How are you?" She asked, slightly out of breath when she caught up with him.

"I'm just peachy, Sava," he said with a bright grin, nearly hiding his sarcasm.

Savannah, however, was the master of sarcasm, so she saw right past the mask he had put up.

She gave him a look that told him so. "You know you can talk to me, right Pete?"

He nodded, giving her a small, forced smile.

"The boys are here for you too, Pete. If you asked it of them, they would do anything for you," she told him, putting a hand on his arm, trying to comfort him.

"I know," he said softly, turning to watch the lake, focusing on the reflection of the sun's rays.

Savannah hesitated. "You would tell us if you were in trouble, right?"

Now it was Peter's turn to hesitate. "Yes, I would." He knew he wouldn't, and hoped Savannah couldn't see past his lie.

Savannah nodded, suspicious. Nonetheless, she turned to watch the lake with him, smiling softly when she noticed the Giant Squid come to the surface.

"It's beautiful, isn't it?" She murmured.

He nodded. "It is."

They stood like that for a while, just watching the water. They enjoyed seeing the Giant Squid splash around. Finally, when it had started to warm up, Savannah decided it was time to go in for breakfast.

"Come on, Pete. Let's go get some breakfast," she said, linking her arm with his.

He nodded, turning to the castle with Savannah.

Savannah led the way, dropping his arm when she saw Lily, Marlene, and Alice. "Girls!" She shrieked, running up to them, happy to see all of them. Lately, Marlene and Alice had been off more with their boyfriends, leaving Lily and Savannah alone to deal with the Marauders.

She tackled both Marlene and Alice in a hug, all of them laughing as they ended up on the floor. Lily exchanged a look with Peter before shrugging and joining the others on the ground, hugging each other and laughing.
