Savannah woke up on December 30, ecstatic to be seeing her friends again. She had bounced out of bed and hurriedly got around.

She quickly double checked that everything she needed was packed in her messenger bag. She wasn't taking her trunk since she would return here for the remaining couple days of break after New Year's.

She was dressed in blue jean overalls with a mustard yellow long sleeve shirt on under them. Her pant legs were rolled up slightly and she wore her new Vans. She left her hair in its naturally messy state, with her green eyes popping due to a small amount of mascara. Other than the mascara, she wore no makeup due to the fact that she didn't have enough money to purchase any. She doubted she would wear any even if she did own anything other than mascara.

She made sure her trunk was locked- she didn't want one of the boys unlocking it and seeing her knickers- before locking the closet door for the same reason. She grabbed her messenger bag off of the bed, heading downstairs.

She nearly crashed into Sirius, who's hair was disheveled and in desperate need of a cut. "Woah," he said, putting his hands on her arms to steady her as she nearly lost her balance.

"S-sorry," She stuttered, nervous at how close he was to her. She'd never even dated a boy, and no matter how many times she was in such close proximity to Sirius, it still made her stomach feel like a million butterflies were fluttering around in it. She blamed it on her innocence.

He chuckled, letting his hands drop reluctantly. "It's fine, 'Vannah. Euphemia just sent me up to tell you that she would apparate you to Lily's."

"Okay," she replied. The two hadn't spoken much over the break, due to the fact that Savannah had been locked up in her room in a depressed state due to the fact that she no longer had somewhere to go when she wasn't at her real home- Hogwarts. She only came out to go to breakfast, lunch, and supper. It was only the day prior that she realized that she had finally gotten the toxic people out of her life. Sirius also believed that it was due to the fact that she wasn't used to having people spend as much money on a gift for her as he did.

He respected her enough to leave her alone, waiting for her to realize that he was attracted to her. He was also embarrassed due to the fact that Euphemia told Savannah about how he had been pining over her.

Savannah and Sirius still maintained eye contact, both a bit startled at their closeness. Sirius didn't let it show, of course. Savannah tried not to, but it showed when she bit her lip and fidgeted slightly, her gaze wondering down to his lips for a split second.

Sirius took a step back, clearing his throat awkwardly. He scratched the back of his neck with the same awkwardness. "Er- see you in a couple of days."

"Yeah," she replied quietly, looking down and walking around him to meet Euphemia in the kitchen. It was only after she left that it occurred to her that she should've said more.

Euphemia apparated Savannah to Lily's house, where the other three girls were already waiting. "Wasn't that James's mum?" Lily inquired as they walked past Lily's sister Petunia and up the stairs to Lily's room.

"Yeah," Savannah replied, standing in the middle of Lily's bedroom, waiting to be told where she could sit. She always felt awkward in new places, never knowing where she could sit or what they considered impolite.

Marlene raised a brow, imploring Savannah to elaborate as Alice and Lily took a seat on the bed. Marlene took a seat on Lily's trunk, which was at the end of Lily's bed.

"Dalton and I are staying with James and Sirius," she continued, not wanting to give too much away. I love the girls, but I can't let too much out. They don't need to get wrapped up in my pathetic home life.

"Sit down and continue. Elaborate more," Lily told her, patting the bed beside her.

Savannah obliged, sitting down beside Lily and putting her messenger bag in her lap. "I didn't want to trouble you all, and Dalton wanted to stay with them. He dragged me along," she explained, hoping they would buy it. I'm not lying. It is the truth... Dalton did want to stay with them and I didn't want to trouble the girls.

Lily seemed to suspect there was more to the story, but she let it slide. She instead turned to Marlene, ready to interrogate her but Alice beat her to it.

"So Marlene.... why did you disappear?" Alice asked her nicely.

Marlene looked at her lap, picking at her freshly manicured nails. "So you know I met a guy."

The other three girls nodded, staying silent so that Marlene could continue.

"Well, the guy was getting into some pretty bad stuff because of his parents," Marlene continued, looking up at her friends.

"What kind of bad stuff?" Lily asked in a comforting voice, laying a hand on Marlene's arm.

"He was about to become a Death Eater. Before you freak out, I found out before he could. He didn't want to do it, so I managed to convince him to talk to Dumbledore. He's going to be a double agent," she paused, allowing the girls to soak in what she was telling them.

After a moment, she continued, "I've still been seeing him, but in secret. No one can know. He only agreed to let me tell you guys because he knows who you're friends with. Please, promise me you won't tell anyone," Marlene begged them, making eye contact with each girl, a pleading look in her eyes.

"Of course we won't, Marls. If you trust him, and you like him, we'll support you," Lily told her, bringing Marlene in for a hug.

"We understand why you disappeared now, but please don't do it again," Alice told her, putting her hand on Marlene's shoulder as Lily was still hugging her.

"I won't, I promise. There's another reason why I didn't tell you who it was yet..." she trailed off, leaning back from Lily's embrace.

Savannah stayed silent, giving Marlene her full attention. Marlene appreciated it, since not a lot of people did so anymore. They always felt the need to put their input in.

"I didn't want you all thinking bad of me, thinking that I moved from one brother to another," she paused again, as if she was unsure whether or not she really wanted to tell the girls.

Lily's eyes widened as she realized who it was Marlene was talking about. "You're dating..." she trailed off, stopping when Marlene nodded her head.

Savannah thought for a moment before she too realized who it was Marlene was dating. Who has a brother and a family interested in the dark arts? Who has Marlene been with before?

Sirius.

Alice was still clueless as to who the mystery guy Marlene was with is. "Who is it, Marls?"

Marlene looked up and into Alice's eyes.

"Regulus Black."
