Chapter 10

'That's him. That's my savior!'

His voice, that messy spiked blond hair, and that dark fur-lined coat. Yes, it had to be him, it just had to be. I finally found him.

I slowly opened my eyes to find that I was in an unfamiliar room. All I remember was seeing him and then nothing but black. Looking around, I saw what looked like the inside of a hospital and realized that I must be in the guild's infirmary. I was laying on one of the white beds and I had a white blanket covering me. When I saw that no one else was in the room with me, I sat up and swung my legs over the side of the bed. As soon as I tried to stand up I felt pain on the back of my head and fell back down on the bed. 'Not this again!'

I thought over what happened again and figured that I must've fainted and fell off my bar stool causing me to hit my head on the hard wooden floor. Moaning in pain, I decided to just get back under the blanket and try to sleep it off.

Apparently someone heard me because I heard a soft knock on the door. "Claire, are you awake?" someone asked. My entire body tensed up as I recognized their voice. "May I come in?" I couldn't seem to form any words, as I was still in shock from realizing who was on the other side of the door. "Ok, I'm coming in." I quickly pulled the blanket up to cover my face as the door began to swing open.

"Claire?" I peeked over the blanket and cleared my throat. "U-umm, h-hi?" I stuttered when I saw the man standing at the foot of my bed. He had blonde messy hair, a large lightning shaped scar covering most of the right side of his face, and his blue/gray eyes were steadily looking at my face. His black tank top was tight against his body, revealing every line, leaving little to the imagination. He also wore baggy dark gray pants tied up with a black leather belt. I blushed bright pink at his appearance and that's when he caught me checking him out.

The blonde chuckled and said, "I see you're feeling better. I'm Laxus by the way, Laxus Dreyar." I uncovered my face the rest of the way and gave him a shy smile and quietly replied, "Hi, I'm Claire. It's nice to finally meet you.... Laxus." I blushed again as I said his name. He laughed again and walked around to the side of the bed and sat on the edge. I sat up and pulled my knees to my chest and just watched him.

*Laxus POV*

Claire just looked at me, her big brown eyes slowly scanning my body as I stood at the foot of her bed. She was half hiding her face with her blanket, I chuckled when I realized she was checking me out. 'Wow her shyness is so cute... wait what? No' "I see you're feeling better. I'm Laxus by the way, Laxus Dreyar." I could see that her eyes were locked on mine, full of curiosity. She finally uncovered her face and I could barely hear her when she said, "Hi, I'm Claire. It's nice to finally meet you.... Laxus." Her face turned a slight shade of pink when she said my name and I walked over to sit next to her on the edge of the bed.

*Claire POV*

'Oh my god, he's sitting so close to me! What do I do?' I slowed my breathing and took a few deep breaths, wondering why I was so nervous. "Have we met before?" I was finally able to ask, although my voice was a little shaky at first.

Laxus looked at me and smiled slightly, "Yeah, I think we have. I'm surprised that you remember since you were so out of it then." I felt a huge weight lift off my shoulders, "Thank you so much for saving me from him, I don't know what I would've done had you not shown up when you did." I was so happy that I finally met the man who saved me that night. He smiled again, "Ah it was no big deal, I was on my way here anyways."

When I heard his reply a giggle slipped through my lips and I swear I saw Laxus blush slightly but he looked away so I just dismissed the thought. He stood up and turned towards the door, "I'll be in the guild hall if you need me. Everyone's really worried about you so when you feel better you should go see them." "Ok, Laxus I will. Thanks again." When he looked over his shoulder I smiled at him. Then, he left without saying another word.

*A few hours later*

My head finally felt better to the point where I could actually get up and walk around without feeling dizzy. So, I decided to go let all my friends know that I'm alright. Carefully, I walked to the door and slowly opened it. When I emerged into the guild hall, Lucy and Wendy were the first to see me. "Claire-chan!!" They said in unison as they ran and hugged me. I started laughing and tightly hugged them back.

Everyone stopped talking and looked over at the three of us and I heard yells of "Claire!" "You're awake!" and some that I couldn't completely comprehend. When Lucy and Wendy released me I was bombarded by a crowd of people and I saw Master push his way through so he was right in front of me.

"Are you feeling alright now Claire?" "Yes, Master. I'm feeling much better!" He smiled and sighed, "Good, I'm glad! However, I do wish you would stay with someone tonight just to make sure." I smiled back at him and agreed, even though I knew I would be fine alone. That's when I heard Lucy say, "You can stay at my place Claire-chan!" She emerged from the crowd and hugged me from the side. I grabbed her hand and started walking towards the door. "Come on, help me get a bag from my place and then we can head over to yours." Lucy was beaming, she loved it when I stayed at her place because there was really no secrets between us.

We shared everything, except I'd never told her about the night that Laxus had saved me...
