Chapter 22

*Claire’s POV*

It’s been 3 months since Laxus and I revealed our feelings to each other. We were a couple now and last month he asked me to move in with him. It was pretty early in our relationship for that but I was ecstatic. Despite the fact that I wanted Emmi to come with me, she insisted on staying with Lucy for awhile to ‘give us new lovebirds our privacy’. It was quite awkward at first, living together, but we quickly got used to it.

Today, Laxus and I were going to the guild to look for a job. We arrived and went to the job requests board. While we were looking for a decent job, I felt like I was being watched. I turned around to see Laxus’ team sitting at one of the tables. There were 3 people on his team; 2 boys named Freed and Bickslow, plus 1 girl named Evergreen. They were wary of me at first, treating me as if I was taking their leader away from them. After awhile though, Evergreen and Bickslow warmed up to me and became some of my closest friends. However, I could tell that Freed was trying to be friendly but I could also tell that he was a bit jealous of all the time I spent with Laxus. I giggled and Laxus looked down at me. “What are you laughing at?” he asked. “Oh nothing.”

I looked up at him and grabbed his hand with one of mine. “So did you find a job for us?” He held up a job request and I snatched it from him. “Hey!” he yelled after me. I turned around, stood on my toes and gave him a quick kiss on his cheek. He blushed and I smiled, winked at him, and skipped over to tell Mira that we’d be taking a job.

At first, we didn’t tell anyone we were dating except for Lucy and Emmi, who also knew we were living together. However, as time went on, more and more people started to figure it out. So after almost 2 months, everyone in the guild knew about me and Laxus. We had even become the Master’s OTP.

*Timeskip*

“Ok so we need to go to this town,” Laxus said while pointing to a nearby city on a map at the train station, “and get rid of a group of thieves.” I nodded and he went to buy the tickets. It was only going to be a few hours on the train but I HATED trains. Why do dragon slayers have to have motion sickness?! I thought to myself. I frowned, wishing Emmi could’ve come with us but she had left yesterday to do another job with Carla and Wendy.

Laxus returned with our tickets and we boarded the train. As soon as I stepped inside one of the passenger cars, I felt sick to my stomach. When we got to our seats I sat down next to Laxus. I felt the train lurch forward and I fell over. My head was in his lap and I layed across the seats. I closed my eyes and he started stroking my long hair, calming me. After only a few minutes, I drifted asleep.

*Timeskip*

*Laxus’ POV*

The train slowly slid to a stop and I looked out the window. The sun was setting, causing the sky to be shades of orange and yellow. Claire was sleeping peacefully with her head on my lap. “Claire, we’re here. It’s time to wake up.” I said softly as I brushed a few strands of hair out of her face. She groaned and opened her eyes. “Hey sleepyhead” I teased while she sat up and stretched.

We got off the train hand in hand and started walking down the street. “Hey Laxus?” she asked. I looked at her and she said, “It’s late, can we just go to an inn for the night and take care of the job tomorrow?” I nodded and put my arm around her shoulders. I had actually been hoping she’d want to do that, I was exhausted.

After we found a nice inn, we booked a room. When we arrived at our room, Claire threw her bag on the floor and lept on the bed. “Ugh! I’m so tired!” I put my bag next to hers and walked over to her. I started tickling her sides. She started squirming and she laughed. “Laxus stop! Stop!” she begged between laughs. I stopped and she curled up into a ball clutching her sides. “Now my sides hurt,” she whined, sticking her bottom lip out. I laughed and walked over to my baf. Grabbing some clothes, I tell her “I’m gonna go take a shower k?” She nodded and I headed to the bathroom.

*Claire’s POV*

I heard the water shut off and I grabbed my pajamas from my bag. The bathroom door opened and I turned around as Laxus reached the bed. He had long pajama pants on that were black with yellow trim. He wasn’t wearing a shirt so I could see his rippling muscles. I tried not to stare at his perfect body as I walked towards the bathroom but I was so distracted I ended up running into the wall. Just my luck that Laxus saw me too… He stared at me for a second and then fell back on the bed laughing. I felt my face burning up and I ran to the bathroom, shutting the door behind me. Unfortunately, I could still hear his laughter through the door. I was mad that he was laughing at me but I couldn’t help smiling because I just loved his goofy laugh.
