Whose Fault Is It?

Its been almost a week since the ambush toward the crown, usually incidents like these were forgotten in three days, but this time it was different since Princess Renee was involved.

Her unusual performance created some disagreements in the current meeting.  And by "disagreements", there were three people who objected the change of heir and those people were from the royal uncle's side.

When the royal uncle had heard about the change of heirs he was excited, those fools were finally noticing his son, but instead the unexpected happened. They were actually considering a female ruler. A FEMALE!

A female is not meant to be a ruler, they were weak minded and should only be seen staying at the side of their husband. If Prince Trystan is not cut out to be the next King then his son should be the rightful person next in line, but these old geezers were too engrossed in their old memories, talking about how the previous rulers, decades ago, were the best at fighting and joined forces with other countries to help build this great kingdom.

Nobody was paying attention to the royal uncle's representatives. The old men had voiced their wants to the King, but the King had postponed the situation and diverted the situation towards something else.

Since then, the King has been thinking about the decision of the old geezers, but he knew if he were to make the change, he would he be a laughing stock. But his son would have it worse. So many things were going through the King's head. First, he had to talk to his children. He doesn't know how he would say this to his children. And to add to the mess, the Queen has been lecturing him to talk to the General about converting their daughter into this 'thing', but he knew she was just mad that she wasn't following the traditional route of a female, something he also had to agree with, but the General has been his friend for a long time, he hasn't caused his daughter any harm so is it right for him to scold the man? He can't be unreasonable, besides the Queen has the power to tell the General herself but he knew a fear of the family was starting to sprout in her, seeing how her own daughter turned into a 'thing'.

Princess Renee didn't want to speak with anybody, she wasn't in the mood to do anything but stay in her room and go through the poisons she had yet to distinguish. During her time back she had changed her room into a place she liked being in, that meant bye to the plant vines hanging on top of her bed, the frills that flowed out of her mattress, and the silk blanket that gave her no warmth.

Upon heading to her father's location she came across her brother, who was practicing his sword lessons with a royal guard. She had hoped he wouldn't come up to her and try to strike a conversation but that was impossible, once he saw her he stopped his training and came up beside her, and as expected, tried to talk to her. Like usual she gave him short answers and some smiles, but had no idea what he was talking about.

When they got to their father's study Trystan knocked announcing their arrival. The guards and servants were dismissed, closing the door behind them. "As you both know Trystan is supposed to be the rightful heir to the throne, but the council has had some discussions and want a change." Trystan's whole body went still. The only person who would want the throne is his royal uncle and cousin. But he knew his cousin's personality, he was a ignorant fool and a playboy. There is not one day where they wouldn't get news of seeing his cousin at a brothel. "Father, I don't think cousin Ryland would be the best option." Trystan said with his brows furrowed. But his father sighed giving his son a sorry look then looked at his daughter who acted as if this had nothing to do with her and she would rather be doing something else. "Trystan, it is not Ryland, though the council is old they will not let a fool take over the throne, but the person they want is your sister."

Trystan turned to his sister, who didn't seem fazed at all by what their father said. He was conflicted. She was a female, there has never been heard of a female ruler before. She was his only sister he didn't want her to think that he didn't support her. But what could she have that he didn't? She has always followed him and stayed by his side supporting him, but ever since they went into different troops she changed. The royal family had thought she would give up halfway and continue her lessons as a proper princess but never did they think she would go through with everything and return a changed person. Was this the fault of Mela? Trystan's eyes harden as he thought about the person who changed his sister. Renee could feel the hate but it wasn't towards her. "Tell those old geezers I refuse to take the throne. I cannot be restricted by a title." The King was in shock by what she said. He didn't know if he should be offended or not, but she had never called the council "old geezers". "If that is all then I would like to take my leave, I must continue with my training." The king had nothing else to say and dismissed his children. Looking at their retreating backs. His daughter walked in confidence as his son walked with a brought up standing, that was what made them different.

The next day Prince Trystan decided to make a visit to the General's manor and had requested the attendance of Mela. The servants were already gossiping about what the Prince wanted to meet the young miss for, but when a servant had came back informing him that she could not see him his smile twitch and demanded that he be taken to her. The servant sweated as he guided the Prince toward the combat troop's territory.

There was nobody training so what could she be doing here? He heard laughter and yelling as they got closer to the huge cottage just like the Sword troop's eating hall. The servant opened the door showing him a scene that he never thought he would see in a million years. Everybody seem to be celebrating something as there were drinks everywhere and the soldiers were all happy downing the drinks, but that wasn't what took his attention. His sight was on Renee's loud laughing as she slapped the backs of her comrades while jugging down a whole bottle of beer. As a proper royal he was never to do that, but as a princess she was never ever supposed to touch a whole container of alcohol, but her she was drowning it as if it was water and she didn't seem to be affected by the taste or substance.

The servant didn't know what to do but he moved towards the right wing commander, Renee, and tapped her on the shoulder. She knew he was behind her but knew he wasn't an enemy so she had ignored him until he tapped her shoulder. "The young miss has a visitor." Everybody stopped their actions and the happy atmosphere was gone. They all moved their head towards the door. Though he was their right wing commander's brother they could never know his intentions towards the Commander. Renee took another drink of her bottle and set it down, wiping her mouth on the sleeve of her her shirt. Then she moved up the stairs, entering a room, then came out with another female following behind her. The female behind her looked as if she had just woken up as Renee had to steady her footing down the stairs. Though Trystan was sure she had just woken up when she glanced at him her eyes were as uncaring as ever. The servant guided him behind the two women following them into another room, only the three of them were in here but what he wanted to say, he didn't want his sister to hear. When Reene shut the door she made it clear that she was going no where. "Your Highness," was all Mela said. Not even a bow or a hand shake.

"Ahem, I would like to ask why you did it."

"...did what?"

Trystan was too embarrassed to say it in front of his sister

"What did you do to my sister?"

"...do what?"

Though Trystan was getting frustrated by her two word answers Mela was the one who was getting more frustrated by him not getting to the point.

"My sister was never a murderer but you turned her into one, she was so pure and innocent before she was put into your hands. You must've corrupted her mind just to get her against me." Trystan said everything in his head.

"...so you are saying she is better off at the palace doing...princessly things? I have nothing to do with her change. She could've left whenever. Seems like your mind is muddled up your Highness, I shouldn't be the one you should be talking to." Mela got up and left the room leaving him and Renee together.

"Renee I-"

Before he could say anything to her she was already following behind Mela.
