A boy with light sapphire hair runs past people in a hurry on a cold winter day. He pushes past and advances, almost as if he's trying to escape. "Stop that boy!" Yelled a deep voice. "He stole from my shop" said the shopkeep.
The shopkeep chases after the boy in an attempt to capture him and teach him a lesson. The boy keeps swerving his way through the busy streets until he comes to an intersection. Unable to advance straight the boy looks around and sees an opening through an alleyway.
"Stop right there!" He hears the man's voice get louder and clearer, indicating that he is approaching close. The boy sprints down with his feet pounding against the ground hoping to make it through the small hole in the fence at the end of the alleyway.
When the sapphire haired boy reaches the fence he gets on his hands and knees in an attempt to bypass the fence through a hole. His head pokes out from the fence, and then an arm but sadly...thats as far as he got. He gasps as he feels a hand grip his leg and pull him out.
"You little brat." Says the man in an angry tone. "You better hope that the police arrive before I kill you." Said the shopkeep, he then proceeds to raise his right fist.
The boy then feels sudden pain hit his stomach. The man lets him go as the boy falls on his knees and vomits nothing but bile. The man then proceeds to push him down with his foot and stomp on his face. The force he used isn't enough to seriously injure him but enough for the boy to cry out in agony. Blood starts to stain the snow as the boy is picked up and repeatedly slapped accros the face.
The man stops when he hears sirens nearing. he throws the boy against the fence. The police cars turn the corner and makes its way down the alley. The cop gets out of his car once he has neared
"Hello officer, this boy right here stole from my shop and I had to chase him down." Said the shopkeeper. "What happened to his face?" Asked the policeman. "Oh he uh...tripped and fell on his face. That's how I was able to catch him."
"Uh huh, well I'll take this from here. Do you mind telling me what he stole?" Asked the police officer. "Yes, he stole some bread. That's about it"
"I'll pay for what he took." calmly said the police officer as he took the boy in his arms and grabbed the bag with bread. He gently put the unconscious boy into the car along with the bread.
-----
A knock was heard at the door.
The door opened revealing a beautiful woman with silver hair. "Yes?" She asked. The policeman looked at her and asked "Are you the mother of Zuki Yukahara?"
"I am, why?" She said with worry in her voice. "He stole from a small shop and got into some trouble." He said as he looked straight into her golden orbs. The woman gasped as she took all of the information in. "W-where is he?" She asked.
"Let me go get him"
The cop then went to his car and opened the door letting out a small boy. The boy ran up to his mother and hugged her legs. The cop followed and handed her the bag with bread. "This is what he stole."
The woman grabbed the bag and looked into it. "Don't worry I paid for it" Said the officer. "Let me pay you back" She said as she tried to go back in be the cop stopped her. "Like I said, Don't worry about it. Now I must leave" He said as he turned to his car
"Thank you" She whispered
She turned to Zuki and walked him into the small house.
She sat Zuki down on the kitchen counter and examined the his face. She started to tear up but she didn't let the tears fall. She turned away to look for an aid kit. Zuki sat there and observed his mother as she scrambled around looking for something.
"Mommy" said the boy as his mother placed the kit next to him.
"A-are you mad at me?" He asked looking down. "No Zuki, I'm not mad at you" She said as she rubbed ointment on his face. Zuki flinched at the pain. "Just don't ever do that again. It's not ok to steal and it makes me sad whenever you get into trouble" She said as she bit her lip to stop herself from sobbing. "Mommy loves you very much ok. Don't make me worry so much about you."
"I'm sorry that I made you sad." Said Zuki. She nodded her head at his words. "It's ok but Zuki, can you tell me why you stole?" She questioned.
"You always give a lot more food to me but you don't give enough to you. I just wanted to give you more food for once." He said as he looked at his mom.
"Oh Zuki, It's ok but just don't steal anymore. You need more food to grow big and strong, so that when you are older you can protect me." She said. She kissed her son on his forehead and walked into their bedroom.
Amaya can't afford a house with two bedrooms.
So for now they share. Amaya placed Zuki into bed and she sat next to him. Zuki is laying under the covers as Amaya pats his head. "Go to sleep Zuki. Get some rest, you're turning five tomorrow. So let's be rested up and energized for tomorrow." She said as she pecked his forehead
The boy drifted off to sleep, cuddling into his mom.
