"Zuki I'm home!"

I jump up from under my covers and quickly get dressed. I rush to the bathroom as I hear my mom's footsteps approaching. I lock the door just as my mom appeared in front of it. "Zuki, are you in hear?" She said. "Y-yes, I'm busy right now tho." I look for my mom's makeup kit to cover up the bruises on my face.

"I was just checking. I also wanted to let you know I pulled an all-nighter so I'm going to sleep. Keep the noise level to a minimum" She says as I hear her footsteps getting fainter and fainter.

I stop applying makeup onto my face as soon as I hear that. "OK...rest well" I say quietly. Tomorrow is her birthday. So today is the day that I buy her a gift. I don't really know what to get her so I'll just look around until I find the perfect gift. I want to give her something that will have value, something to hold onto.

It's Sunday, March 10. I, along with many other lieutenants and their soldiers, have gone out into the country of Tatsukia to recruit new knights. It has been about two weeks since our recruitment operation started. We've rounded up quite of few people, ranging from various skill sets. Whether it be combat ability, tactical thinking or in between. However it hasn't been much

It might be the common misconception about Knights. That we only live to serve the royal family. That may be true to some degree, but that is a different set of knights. There are two types of Knights so far; Royal Knights are the ones that take care of the royal family. Ground Knights are the active ones who defend the nation as a whole not just the royal family. There has been talk of adding a new force of knights however. Knights who will resemble assassins. Only the ones who seem best fit will be selected to be part of the new corp.

I, Lieutenant Vixbin, am part of the the Ground Corp. I am in the combat sector. I haven't notice anyone who seems worthy to become a Tatsukian Knight. I guess I'll go door to door and ask around. Other knights have been passing around fliers and putting up posters. This is definitely the chillest time to be a knight.

"Lieutenant! should we check the surrounding burrows in Delfow City?" Said my second in command, Mia. She is a small but tough person. Her short brown hair flows in the light wind as her light blue eyes stare at me, waiting for my response.

"Sure. I don't see why not." I lazily say. "Let's find a bus stop and wait for a bus to come around."

Delfow City is one of the major cities in Tatsukia and it's the closest city to Tatsukia City, the capital.

The bus comes and Mia and I board together. "Fifteen minutes until our next stop, Grayvil." announced the driver through the intercom. I guess this will be a great time to catch up on some sleep.

I am woken up by Mia. "Lieutenant, this is our first stop."

"But I was enjoying my nap." I whine. "Yes I know. You were drooling on my shoulder." She replies. I lightly chuckle at her statement. We hop off of the bus and step foot onto Grayvil ground. Jeez I've heard that Grayvil is the slump of Delfow but I didn't expect this. Everything looks old and outdated...and rugged.

We walk up to a neighborhood and start knocking at some doors. We make our way down the whole block before stopping to take a rest. "We aren't having much luck. I just wonder if everyone else across Tatsukia has had more success then us." I say as I tiredly sit on the curb. "We get what we can get sir." Replied Mia

"I guess. Hey are you hungry? I'm hungry. Let's go find a place to eat." I say as I get up and dust off my navy colored uniform. Mia and I walk until we find a cozy little diner. We sit at a booth as a waitress walks up to us. We order our food and shortly after we start eating.

"Hey Lieutenant, can I ask you a question?" Asked Mia.

"Sure...and when it's just us two you don't have to formally address me . Just call me by my name." I state and she nods her head.

"Kamuki, why did you dye your hair black? I heard that it use to be white. Isn't that hair color commonly acquainted with royalty or nobility?"

"Yes it is, I come from a family of nobles. So therefore I died it black so that I could earn respect from everyone. I didn't want my success to given to me simply because I'm a noble. I've attributed everything to my skill set and not to my background." I state as I slightly pull on my long jet black hair. I swept it back to the side as Mia asks me another question.

"That's understandable and I respect that but why did you become a knight?"

I was about to respond when I heard a commotion coming from outside. I see two buys who look like they are about to throw down. This could be interesting. The owner of the diner stomps towards the door. "Damn it! It's only three in the afternoon and of course Zuki has to start causing problems again! Can't that stupid boy ever stay out of trouble?!"

This...this just got a whole lot more interesting.

I run outside after leaving money on the table. A group has formed around the two teens as they start throwing fist.

I Have the present, and today is my Mom's birthday. I run from the shop towards my house. I space out a bit and I accidentally run into someone.

"I am so sorry" I say I quickly try to run again but the person who I ran into had other plans.

"So, you don't remember me?" That voice, oh no that voice.

Crap! It's smoker dude.

"You've caused me a lot of pain. Did you know that? I want Payback!" He pushes me down and starts attacking me. I push him off of me and I get on top of him and start attacking.

He manages to push me off and I land on my back. He grabs the bag that had my Mother's birthday gift in it. He pulls it out and starts laughing. "Aww are you a little mommy's boy? Are you going to go cry to that bitch after I beat your ass?!"

I lose it. In an instant it felt like I got right back up. I Hit him straight on the jaw and he recoils back a little. He throws a fist back at me but it feels slow, like I can easily dodge it. It's like i'm only focused on him, on whats happening now.

I dodge back and aim a kick square at his gut. it almost connects.

"Ok, I've seen enough." Said a tall, black haired man. He has my leg in his hand and the other boy's head in a headlock. "The both of you can scram."

He said and I just realized...He's a Knight! Oh no am I screwed! He hands me my bag that has the present in it. "Walk away."

I hurriedly leave and so does the crowd, that I didn't even realize was once there, as it starts to dissipate.

"Mia, follow the blue haired one home. Tell me once he's reached his house. I think that we just found a new recruit.
