☆ Chapter 4.5 : Dream : 002 ☆

As he drifted off, he did the procedure to assure he would have another lucid dream.

Nothing could of prepared him for what he was about to experience, he was confused once he found himself in an elevator with all of his classmates, all of them, except for Rantaro.

Shuichi looked around and saw that everyone's faces were blank slates, none of them had any emotions. He figured this was because this was a dream, you physically wouldn't be able to not even have a hint of worry on your face in a situation like this.

He could figure out what this was, not easily, but easily enough. They were travelling down to a room where a class trial would take place, isn't that what Monokuma said would happen if a murder happens?

This was a dream yet it feels so real.

The elevator stopped and Shuichi could only assume that they arrived at their destination, or the elevator broke. The first theory was proven correct once the elevator doors swung open and a bright light shined into everyone's eyes.

Even in a dream, people had to shield their eyes.

Once it was gone, he finally saw it, the trial room. It was very similar to the trial rooms you would see in court, but that was what it was mostly likely based off of.

The bear told them to stand behind the podium with their name on it.

Monokuma, he sat in a throne like chair, as if he was the most important thing in this class trial.
In front of him, his five loyal Monokubs sat there, watching.

Once everyone found their podium and stood still, Monokuma went over how the class trial works one more time, in case someone had forgotten already.

"You will throw evidence at each other to find out who the blackened killer is, if you find out who the culprit is and it is correct, only the blackened gets punished while everyone else is let go. Pick incorrectly however, and everyone except for the blackened gets punished"

Once the bear finished talking, everyone looked at each other, possibly in none-belief. How could someone kill another? Especially after Kaede tried so hard to convince everyone.

Talking of Kaede, she looked nervous and anxious, Shuichi thought it was because of the situation.
At the end, he found out why.

They began by discussing the time of death and the murder weapon.
Mostly the weapon however.

They concluded that the shot put ball was extremely heavy, and only someone strong would've been able to throw it hard enough to hit Rantaro, which led them to Gonta.

Every piece of evidence after that that they talked about led to different people, and it was difficult to figure out who it was.

Then, Shuichi remembered the previous dream.
Kaede...why was she there?
Why was she in the dream? And why didn't she remember it?

Soon, it came all circle, but Shuichi stayed quiet, he couldn't believe what he concluded.

It couldn't of have been Kaede, right?

Shuichi listened as people started throwing accusations and then someone, he didn't quite see who, pointed out that Shuichi was being suspiciously quiet and then started saying why he could be the culprit.

Shuichi looked around, his eyes met Kokichi's and while others talked, the two stared at each other.

Miu noticed and told the two to stop staring at each other because it was gross and not the best time.

Kokichi denied the fact and the two argued.

Kaede told them to stop and everyone went silent.

She then spoke,

"Shuichi has already figured out the truth of the case, but he's too scared to say it out loud. Come on Shuichi, I know you can do it. You have to for the sake of everyone here who don't deserve to die"

People turned their heads to her, and then straight to him.

Gosh darnit Kaede, look at what you have done.

Shuichi sighed, grabbed his hat and covered his eyes, not wanting to make eye contact.

He loudly explained the whole case, saying how each piece of evidence had something to do with the murder.

And then in the end, he finally told them all who the killer was.

Kaede Akamatsu.

She cried a little, smiling, she told Shuichi,

"Thank you Shuichi, I knew you could do it"

Shuichi felt horrible, sick would be a better word.

He can't believe that the person who edged everyone forwards. Encouraged everyone to never give up. Got everyone to cooperate, was Rantaro Amami's killer.

And he wasn't the only one who could barely believe it, obviously, deep down, they knew that this was the truth, and nothing could change it, but they didn't want to believe it.

People asked Kaede about it, wanting answers but Kaede wasn't given any time to answer any of the questions.

Monokuma interrupted, telling everyone to vote for who they think the killer is, he warned to pick carefully, because if they pick incorrectly, everyone would be dead except for the blackened.

With no fail, everyone picked Kaede. She looked at peace, happy for once.

Before her execution,
Monokuma decided to give her a few more moments to live.
