Just a quick warning, this part will be a lot shorter. That is because this is where Percy gets home. The next chapter is where she will meet Diana.
Percy:
As Blackjack and I soared over Manhattan, I sighed contentedly. Finally, I would go somewhere with no recent bad memories. Stress on the recent. Smelly Gabe was not fun.
I walked towards my apartment. I haven't seen my mother in nearly a year. I mean, that's just, like, wow.
I turned to Blackjack and gave him a soft smile.
"Thanks for taking me here, Blackjack. I'll get mum to make a heap to doughnuts for you. Meet me here at 10:30 pm tomorrow, then I'll give you those promised doughnuts. Deal?"
Fine. But I better get those doughnuts. I will be here. Don't you worry about that. Oh, and Boss?
"Yeah?"
I am expecting the promised double doughnuts.
"Sure thing, Blackjack." He started to turn around. "Just one more thing - can you not tell anybody where I am? Not even my cousins? It's just that I'm trying to disappear, to just get away from all this godly nonsense." Thunder rumbled in the distance.
Fine. But if they offer doughnuts, I'm telling.
I stuck out my tongue and said goodbye to my pegasus. He turned around and flew off. After tomorrow, I would never see him again. My final tie to them, gone.
I turned back to my apartment and steeled myself. As I raised my slightly shaking hand I almost turned back. But I continued on. I could always run away later. Mum really just need to know that I'm alive. To see me.
I tentatively knocked and heard some muffled scrapes and bangs.
Mum opened the door.
"Hi, I'm Sally and you ar-" My mum broke off as she registered who I was.
"Hey, mum. Long time no see." I gave her a sideways smile.
A few tears glistened in mum's overjoyed face and she gave trembly laugh before rushing forwards and hugging me.
"Oh, Percy. It's been so long." She sobbed, her face mashed into my shoulder.
"What's this? Oh, hey, Percy," Paul said with wide eyes, "You're back."
"Yeah. I am." I grinned. My mum and step-dad stepped away from the door-way to make room to let me in.
As I walked into the apartment, I saw pictures of my mum and I, plus Paul - in some later additions. I smiled softly to myself as I remembered better times.
I took a seat on the couch, a weary and tired mum and Paul following behind closely. My mother gave a look that shouted 'spill'. So I did. I told her nearly everything. Not the torture or the flashbacks. I brushed over the whole Tartarus thing. But other than that, everything.
Once I had ended, mum and Paul had tears in their eyes.
"Oh, my baby," Mum pulled me closer, "I'm so sorry that you had to go through all that." I knew she was actually very, very mad at the Fates for making me go through all of that stuff. I would be, but I was kind of used to it by now.
"Chiron IMed me. He said that you were alive, but injured. He also said you weren't supposed to be out for a few more days. Will Solace isn't the kind to just let you go early. What happened?" Mum gently said.
"I kinda ran away?" I mumbled, ending the sentence like a question. Mum looked at me, extremely disappointed. Paul just looked sort of sad.
"Oh, my baby girl." Mum stood up, sighing. She hugged me quickly, then told me to get some rest. My mum headed off to get some sleep and I was suddenly reminded of how late it was. He said that it was okay to stay, and I really should get some rest, because I looked dead on my feet.
He tiredly stumbled off, leaving me alone. I sat there for a few minutes, thinking about my failings while trying not to think about them, so I wouldn't have any flashbacks. A single tear slipped down my face before I stood up and quietly walked to my room, permitting myself some sleep.
A/N
I hope this is up to standard.
I haven't been able to update recently because we had a school production on, and I was part of the crew. This meant that I had several weeks of preparations and then the actual performance.
However, I should be able to update soon, depending on school demands.
