It was a few weeks after Percy had run away, and nobody from the mythological side of things had yet bothered her. Percy supposed that it was only a matter of time until that came for her, so she enjoyed her alone time while she could. She thought that it was nice of the camps that they had (probably) read her letter and adhered to its requests, but Percy still found it strange that no monsters had yet attacked her. Percy was a powerful demigod, so monsters were attracted to her much more than others of her kind. And she hadn't exactly sent them a letter as well.
So far the day had been uneventful and Percy's ADHD was playing up. She was extremely bored. Percy had done nearly everything that she could and was about to start yet another activity when somebody knocked on the door.
"Coming!" Percy yelled, cautiously putting her hand to her pocket, where Riptide was. She knew that her mother and Paul both had keys and were not expecting any visitors. Percy thought that it might be a monster, but why would they knock?
Percy slowly made her way towards the door and hesitantly opened it, looking through the crack. She was relieved to see that it wasn't a monster. Percy opened the door a little bit more and stood in the doorway, blocking the person from entering.
"Hello, Diana. I haven't seen you for a while. What brings you to my city?" Percy asked in a harsh, cold tone. Her cousin just stared at her before asking to come in, claiming that she had 'important business to discuss'.
As soon as her elder cousin had entered the apartment, Percy slammed the door behind her. Diana Prince might be respected in the wider community, but Percy was done with all of the things that came with her kind.
Percy watched Diana as she twisted her hands together and bit her lip before nervously sitting down on a chair. Diana opened and closed her mouth a couple of times, considering how to word what she was going to ask of Percy.
"Percy, I have to ask a big favour from you." Diana started off, refusing to meet Percy sea-green eyes. If she had looked into those eyes, she would have seen how they darkened with anger at that statement. Diana would have also seen how clearly Percy was about to say no.
However, she didn't look.
Percy furiously opened her mouth, about to say no, but her cousin beat her to it.
"Look, Percy. You won't have to do any of that demigod stuff. I just want you to join a team of mortal heroes. All they have to do is some covert missions, and the missions would never actually deal with any mythological stuff. If that kind of thing came to our attention the Justice League would deal with that. That's the team that I'm in. Not the team that you would be in. Come on, just think about it," Diana looked at Percy imploringly, "Please?"
Percy rolled her eyes. "Fine. But on a few conditions. I am allowed to leave the team at any given moment, I don't have to train with them if I don't want to, and that I get Fridays off."
"Done." Diana grinned.
"Also, what exactly do I have to do?"
"Just overlook the team, nudge them in a certain direction if they need it, go on some missions to help out and just help them with their training." Diana smiled before standing up. "Well, I think that that's it. Might be a couple of other things. Who knows?" A frown crossed her face before she smiled once more.
Diana walked over to the kitchen bench, where there was a spare sheet of paper lying around. She asked for Riptide in pen form, saying that she was going to write down some key details that Percy would need. Diana wrote the address of the base, then said that she would pick up Percy on Monday and take her there for her first time.
Percy agreed quickly, as so that she would not start to properly think things over and change her mind. The daughter of Poseidon took the piece of paper and saw that there was the information in both English and Ancient Greek so that mortals like her mother would be able to find the base if they needed to and so that Percy could actually read the information a little better.
She took a deep breath and tucked the paper in the pocket of her jeans. Percy had a secure place in mind to put the paper so that monsters or other mortals that weren't her mum or Paul couldn't find the information.
Percy smiled at Diana tightly, who smiled softly back. They walked over to the door of her apartment together in silence, before Percy spoke in a quiet but firm voice,
"Don't make me regret this."
"I won't," Diana promised in return. "You'll love it. I'm sure."
With that, Diana strode out of Percy's apartment. Percy closed and locked the door behind Diana with a soft click, then leaning her head against the wooden door.
"I really hope that I don't regret this." She grumbled to herself before turning and pulling the paper out of her pocket again. Percy studied once over and clenched it tightly in her hand. It seemed she had some preparations to make.
