Percy:
Monday had finally arrived, and to say that I was nervous would have been an understatement.
I obsessed over what I should wear.
I obsessed over my hair.
I obsessed over the house.
I obsessed over every little thing.
To be honest, I had no idea why the Hades (sorry, uncle) I was doing all of this. I mean, it's not like anyone will be coming over to my place for prolonged amounts of time.
I was obsessing over everything.
But I was obsessing for nothing.
I had just finished plumping up the cushions on the couch a little bit more when I finally heard a knock on the door. Diana had arrived at last. I rushed over to the tightly shut door and - I admit - I did stumble once or twice in my eagerness to get going.
I was super excited to go because I would be fighting, keeping busy and wouldn't have to deal with any of the crap that came with being a daughter of one of the Big Three. Thanks the gods. I was also ready to leave because I had threatened Diana. She knew that if I was involved in any of that kind of stuff, I would be gone.
Flinging the door open, I was greeted with a grinning Diana. It seemed that she was just as excited as I was. She was wearing what I assumed to be her uniform/armour. I really hoped I wouldn't have to wear that. It was a bit too... revealing for my taste. I also didn't protect the arms, legs or head very well. Major drawback, if you ask me.
"You won't have to wear something like my armour," Diana explained, having seen me staring at her armour, "It's for when I'm with the Justice League. Since we're going to one of their old bases and meeting the Team, I thought that it would be good to wear it. You can wear something totally different if you want to. Speaking of which, are you packed and ready to leave?" She frowned slightly and peered behind me, looking for my bag.
"Yep! All ready to take off!" I exclaimed, elated to finally be able to leave. I ran over to the kitchen and picked up a duffle bag containing my armour, clothes and some toiletries. Most of the stuff in the bag, including the bag itself, was blue. I can't live without some blue in my life. There were also some blue cookies in a reusable container in the duffle bag. Blue cookies are another thing that I couldn't live without.
Diana smiled and I hurriedly said goodbye to my mum, who was starting work late in order to see me off and briskly walked to catch up with my demigoddess friend. She paused at the front of the apartment so that I could lock the door.
We walked along New York and she reminded me that nobody could know about how to get to the base from my place. Diana and I walked along slowly and she pointed each step of the way. I just nodded my head and hoped that all of the information was getting into my brain.
We had been walking for a solid fifteen minutes when Diana abruptly stopped in front of a daggy old alleyway. I glanced at the street sign and tried to memorise the name as I followed Diana into the slightly suspicious-looking alleyway.
Towards the end of the alleyway, where there was a dead-end, a dirty telephone box stood proud, looming in the ominous shadows. My friend started towards it and I looked at her in apprehension and confusion.
"You want us to go into... there? Really?" I sceptically asked.
"Yes, Percy. I do. It's how we get to the Cave." Diana explained in an exasperated voice. I considered her words and looked back at the telephone box. It certainly did not look like much. While it was probably once coloured a brilliant red, years of being ignored and not being looked after had built up the grime and dirt, turning it into a dull grey-black colour.
I decided to trust my old friend and stepped into the box. We stood together in the cramped box as Diana said some words that resulted in a bright flash of light.
Once my vision cleared, I could see that we were in a big cave with a lot of high tech looking objects all over the place. Not to mention that Diana and I were specifically in a weird metal tube. I mean - what?
My eyes then quickly focused in on a group of teenagers standing together near us. There were five of them, with the youngest looking about 13 years old and the eldest coming in at around 19. Was this the team that Diana told me that I was going to be working with?
Diana greeted them, and they replied back, using the name 'Wonder Woman' instead of Diana. Must be because of her armour. The kids were in casual clothes, but the youngest one was wearing a pair of black sunglasses. My eyes wandered over them once more before I stuck out my right hand to one of them.
"I'm Percy. Nice to meet all of you."
"I'm M'gann or Megan. Whichever's more comfortable." A girl that looked around 16 said. She had long red hair green skin. M'gann took my hand and we gave each other a firm handshake.
The next person introduced herself as Artemis. My lips tightened when I heard that name, but I knew that she wasn't the goddess.
"Hey, lovely," A boy with bright red hair and freckles zoomed over to me at speeds that no normal human could run at.
Must be a metahuman, I thought. How else would he be able to do that?
The boy took my still outstretched hand with both of his hands. "My name's Wally. But you can call me whatever you want, beautiful."
Ew. Just ew. This boy was flirting with me. It was a good thing that Diana - or should I call her Wonder Woman? - did not ask Thalia to be here. If she were here, this 'Wally' might be dead and/or have the Hunters and Artemis (the goddess this time) after him.
"I'm flattered that you're flirting with me, but I'm, like, super gay." I smiled at his face. Priceless. I patted him twice on his shoulder and walked to the next kid, who appeared to have gills and webbed hands. Odd.
"I'm Kaldur'ahm, but you may call me Kaldur. It's a pleasure to meet you." Kaldur said in a very formal way. Too formal, if you ask me. The guy should loosen up a bit.
I turned to the final two kids in the Team.
"Conner." The first of the two didn't take my hand, merely standing there. He was a bulky person, certainly capable of lifting very heavy things and almost certainly the brawn of the Team. Just like Clarisse, I thought. All muscle, no brain. Though, Clarisse did have some sort of battle strategy (usually courtesy of the Athena Cabin) and she was definitely a person you wanted watching your back in battle. Just like -
No, nope, not going to go down that train of thought. I didn't want to have a flashback on the first day of coming here. Who knew what kind of impression that would make.
I mentally shook myself out my thoughts and stuck my hand out to the final kid, the one with the black sunglasses. He took my hand and firmly shook it.
"I'm Robin." I guessed that that wasn't his real name because, come on? Who names their kid that? I simply smiled and put my hand by my side, not pushing it, despite curiosity clawing at me.
I cleared my throat and looked at Dia-Wonder Woman.
"Sooo, uh, where will I be staying?" All of the armour and weapons in my duffle bag were starting to get heavy.
My friend just blinked once then headed off, leaving me to trail her like a lost puppy.
A/N
Well, hi.
I know that this sucks and I know that Percy's attitude at the start of this was completely different than the end of the last chapter. Sorry about that.
Hopefully this was a satisfactory update and hopefully I'll make another chapter soon.
