"Thomas" What? I snap my head to the left and see Alby smirking at me. I shoot him a confused look to get him to elobarate. " The green bean you've been gawking at, his name is Thomas". Heat rushes to my cheeks. He saw me staring at him, staring at Thomas.

Thomas. A surge of excitement courses through me just thinking of his name. It really does suite him.

A jab in my side brings me out of my daze. "If you're done dreaming of the new shank, it might be an idea to go do some work". Even though what he was saying sounds mean, the smug smile he's currently wearing shows it's all in jest. With one tap on the back Alby strides away.

After a few seconds I pull myself back into reality. Work right, I have things to do.

Slowly I walk over to where the builders are. As second in command I don't really have a specific job so I just help out wherever I'm needed.

Just as I am at the edge of the group of builders something Gally says catches my attention "That new shucking greenie is bad news I'm telling you" and without realising it I've started to walk away.

I decide to go and see Frypan. He's as good a shank as any to talk to. As I walk into the kitchen I'm greeted by a mix of aromas. Frypan is bending over the stove, mixing something in a pan.
The clashing of cutlery comes from the corner behind me .

I turn to see Chuck drop a large knife. "That was very graceful of you greenie" I snigger. He brushes of the ungraceful comment yet he still states proudly "I'm not the newest newbie now!" I laugh at how smugly he said it. "Why are you making sandwiches anyway?" Without turning around he nonchalantly answers with "Thomas". And with that my heart jumped.
After he's done Chuck attempts to pick up the sandwiches and some fruit, failingly slightly. "Here let me take some" I say hoping I will be able to see Thomas. "Nah I'm alright"he says gripping the food. "No seriously I can take some for you". Once again Chuck says he's fine and then shuffles out the room.

"Why were you so determined to take those buggin sandwiches?" Frypan says with a sly smile. "No reason, just wanted to help". With that I raised my hand in a gesture to show I was leaving and ambled out back into the glade.

It's late afternoon now, with very few of the gladers still working. I start to head back towards homestead planning to go see how Ben is doing. Although with every step of the way I long to see Thomas even more.
