New Beginnings - a Stinglu story

Chapter 1

First off, thank you for reading my story and I apologize in advance if I made any mistakes while writing as it is currently 1 am. this is my first fairy tail book and I haven't seen the show in almost a year but I love it so much and was randomly inspired to write this so let me know if any info ir wrong and I will edit it. Anyways i hope you enjoy! :)

(Also side not I will probably edit this later because my brain isn't working rn ok bye)

             I loudly slurped down the rest of my strawberry shakes sweetness and placed the frosty glass down on the counter leaving a ring of water on the dark wood. I smiled at Mira and muttered a thank you as she collected my glass and wiped down where it had been sitting. It has been almost a week since I returned from out last mission and yet my legs still hurt and the galaxy colored bruise on my stomach didn't seem to have any intention of fading sometime soon. I signed and spun around in the stool prepared to stand up from the bar as a tired looking Lisanna plopped down next to me.

"Hey Lucy." she smiled and looked at me with slightly swollen and pink face.

"Lis, did you just cry?" I asked snapped out of my daze and suddenly much more awake.

"Yeah, I just have no idea how you can deal with Natsu all the time." she sniffed and Mira gave her little sister a glass of water and a sympathetic look as she brought some ale over to Cana and the other guild members. It was a very well known fact in the guild that Lisanna had feelings for the dense pinkette that I called my partner.

"What did he do this time?" I sighed "I swear i'll go beat his ass for you if you want." and smiled as she let out a small giggle. Her smile faded as quickly as it had appeared and she shrugged her shoulders.

"He didn't do anything." she reassured me putting her hand on mine. "I just hate how I can't work up the courage to tell him how I feel even after everything we've been through."

"Speak of the devil and he shall appear." I muttered sarcastically as Fairytail's resident fire eater burst through the guild doors arguing with Happy about something. "I've got this Lis, don't worry." I grinned as I walked up to Natsu now hearing what the argument was about.

"Are you trying to starve me?!" Happy sighed dramatically and fell onto the table muttering about how after all he had done for him.

"You just ate 5 minutes ago you dumb cat!" Natsu exclaimed throwing his hands in the air in an equally dramatic tone. I walked past the problematic couple and up to the mission board scanning over it for something that we could do. My eyes scanned over a mission that said a golem was terrorizing a village about 3 hours away from Magnolia and was extremely dangerous. Ignoring the warnings my eyes met the reward. 1.5 million jewel. Perfect. If Natsu, Lisanna, and I did that mission I would still be able to pay for 7 months of rent easily and still have plenty left over. I tore the paper off the board and walked over to Natsu. After clearing my throat very loudly he turned around and stopped arguing.

"Hey Luce! What's up?" as he talked happy flew into my arms moaning about how he was being abused but I was busy at the moment. I ignored the crying blue creature screaming in my face and began my first step of matchmaking.

"Hey Natsu, you up for a mission?" I asked, my eyes glimmering with excitement as I plotted my matchmaking. His bright expression slightly darkened but I continued as I probably imagined it, "I was thinking that you, Lisanna, and I could go and.." I stopped mid sentence as he was now visibly frowning and clearly not listening. "Natsu?" I asked confused

"C'mon luce..." he muttered not looking up from a spot on the floor which apparently was quite interesting, "Maybe we should try another one this one looks... look at this one!" he said tearing down the first paper in his line of vision. I read it aloud to make sure we were looking at the same mission.

"Escorting these merchants for 30,000 jewel?" I questioned forgetting my matchmaking to make room for confusion filling my head. "What?" he started muttering something about how we could see the pretty views from the mountains and go sightseeing on the way home. Things that would never come out of the dragon slayer's mouth. I started laughing and happy flew out of my arms over to Mira to beg for food probably. Natsu shuffled uncomfortably playing with the hem of his scarf and still focused on the floor.

"I just.." he started quietly finally shifting to meet my gaze, "I don't think we should do that one luce, not after last time"

I sighed loudly, "Natsu i'm fine, just like I told you, last week was nothing plus Lisanna is coming with and she is super strong plus rent is coming up soon." I pointed out "Plus i think it would be a good time for you and Lis to."

"Just drop it already!" he snapped, "I just can't deal with another mission where I have to babysit you right now." huffing seemingly done with the conversation he turned on his heels but before he started walking I replied.

"Well what's that supposed to mean!" I asked louder than I had intended to.

"It means exactly what I said!" he replied, his voice rising to meet mine. I opened my mouth to retaliate but he was faster, "I can't keep protecting you on every mission we go on you just slow me down!" he almost yelled this time. Heads were turning towards our increasingly hostile interaction and I saw Lisanna stand up out of the corner of my eye where she had been intently watching the whole exchange seemingly entertained by what was happening.

"Well then why even have me on your team to begin with!" I snapped, very angry and not afraid to show it.

"Because you are my friend and I helped you join the guild so it's only right!" he yelled back

"So you pity me then?" I asked venom dripping from every word I spoke.

"That's not what I said!" he sighed apparently growing bored of talking to me.

"Sure it's not, but you know what Dragneel? I pity you. I pity how dense you are to not even notice how much Lisanna likes you and how I have to help you with everything! Go fuck yourself!" I spit with anger radiating from my person not even realizing what I had revealed to him at that moment. Now it was my turn to turn and walk away, throwing open the doors and storming out.

At that moment I didn't realize what I had done.

I changed so much with those words in the heat of the moment.

And without realizing it,

I prepared myself for New Beginnings .
