I don’t know how long I was knocked out but when I came to I found myself alone lying on top on of some floral print covers. I looked around the world and came to the conclusion I was in the grand parents there were pictures of a girl at varying ages on the wall, a bookcase in the corner, and an aged style of décor. I pulled myself up and got a small head rush I must have gotten a concussion from the frying pan. I ran my hand over my head and felt an attempted bandage job. I could tell the THC had run through my system from the massive headache I had but attempted to ignore it. To distract myself I swung my feet over the edge of the bed and stood up, slower this time.
I used my advanced sense of smell to take a better look at the room. I smelled the scents on two distinct people one male, one female. The males scent was older as if he hadn’t been here in a while. The females scent was stronger but only just I made a guess that she had only entered to bring me here and otherwise avoided the room. There was a single window in the room but it was boarded up a common security measure against zombies. I approached the door and turned the knob and pushed the door lightly it didn’t budge I pushed again only slightly harder and could tell by the pressure that I had been barricaded in. It occurred to me now that perhaps I wasn’t meant to leave this room. If I hadn’t been panicked I could easily have torn the boards from the window or taken a running and forced my way through the door barricade included but I wasn’t. It had been a few months since the last time I had encountered a living human and wasn’t inclined to leave right away. I also suspected the that the strange frying pan wielding girl didn’t mean me harm she’d attempted first aid and given me shelter to recover locking me up was merely a security measure. After all she had just encountered me feasting on a undead human corpse at best I was infected at worst I was a cannibal.
I approached the door quietly and raised one of my long point finger nails to the door slowly I bore a small hole through it at face level. A human would have made a peephole but I could tell a lot more by scent. I pressed one nostril to the door and took a whiff. I could smell a the girl she was a combination of sweat, perfume and the au naturel that a humans put off when they weren’t covering the selves in cleansers, conditioners, shampoos and so many other human chemicals. I could also smell a large male dog, it smelled feral its sweat glands were in over drive which meant it sensed I was a predator and was preparing for a fight if need be. There were traces of the old man who used to occupy this room but again not enough to indicate he had been around for a while. Unlike the dog the girl was giving off only the regular amount of perspiration that the body is constantly giving off. I found new respect for my attacker/rescuer if she thought me a dangerous cannibal apparently it wasn’t something that caused her a great deal of stress.
I took a moment to steady myself then widened the hole I had created and spoke through it. "Hi" I said to the strange girl not knowing how she would react "My name is Gregor I think we may have gotten off to a bad start" At first there was only silence then a low growling started and something, the dog presumably, launched its self at the barricade which knocked into the door creating a loud bang. I fell back a step and then I heard the girl speak for the first time "Down Bruno." Her voice was brash but feminine. The dogs paws hit the floor with a thud giving me the impression it was definitely a large breed maybe an Irish Wolfhound or a Mastiff. I heard the dog give a last growl before chuffing and walking away. I leaned back to the door and said, "protective dog." For the first time the girl acknowledged my presence although with an off handed comment "you have no Idea" she replied.
After a moment I heard the shifting of furniture before I could reach for the door knob the girl predicted my actions and said in a warning voice "Don't try to leave the room your in I just moved the dresser enough to open the door so we can speak better. If you try to get out I am arme and will protect myself" Before waiting for my reply she open the door from her side creating a small gap about a foot wide. There was a clatter of foot steps and a dead pushed into the room I occupied but not a girls head. It was the head of a great black wolf and it was not in the least happy to see me.
