I was shoved side to side by the crown trying to talk to me and trying to talk to my family. I was completely lost without Storm by my side. I was shoved hard on my left shoulder and I fell to my knees. I yelped in pain, and then I heard a snarl. I was Storm, trying to get through the swarming crowd. He leaped through the air and landed at my side. He accidentally landed on my hand and I yelped in pain.
Once he realized what he did, he hung his head in shame. I am so sorry! I didn't mean it! I am so so sorry! I rubbed his ears. "It's okay buddy, I am ok." I said quietly. He looked at me with an apologetic look. Really? Are you sure? I didn't mean it... I got up from my knees and stood up straight. The paparazzi swarmed around Storm and I.
"Is this your dog?" One reporter asked. He had sandy blond hair, and a large camera. He started to snap pictures of Storm and I. Storm began to growl at him, the reporter shot me a look, and backed away. We ran towards the car and threw ourselves in the car.
Storm was in the window seat and I sat in the middle. Jason ran up to the car and sat next to me. He looked at Storm, who looked ginormous in our car, and burst out laughing.
"I thought you were going to ride with your parents." I said joining in with his laughter.
"My parents were going to go home and dress nicer, so I decided that I would just go home with you until they get here." He said with a smile. His eyes said different. Just then, my parents got into the car.
"Howdy ya'll! How we doin' this fine day?" He said, trying on his best texan accent, which wasn't very good. Jason stifled a laugh, but a bit slipped out from through his fingers. My dad smiled. We drove home in silence, I suddenly realized that Katharine wasn't with us.
"Where is Katharine?" I asked. My mom answered
"She threw a big fit about coming to visit you in the hospital, but when we heard it collapsed, we weren't allowed to investigate." Jason and I flinched at the thought of being trapped underground for twenty-four hours.
My mom kept going. "She wouldn't come with us to visit you when you were found, so we eventually left her home." Storm let out a big snore, I giggled when I saw that he was sleeping with his face smushed up against the door. When we finally arrived home, Jason and I went right up to my room. He sat in his usual spot on the floor and I flopped on my bed with Storm at my side.
"Wow." Jason breathed.
"What?" I asked curiously.
"I just can't believe that this happened. That we were trapped, we almost died."
"I know." I said. we sat in silence for a while, reflecting on what happened.
<<Brie! Jason! Dinner is ready!>> The intercom read. We all got up and started for the door. Jason stopped when he saw a witch broomstick behind my door.
"What's this?" He asked. He held it up.
"Oh, it's nothing it was just a prop for my Halloween costume." I said. He prodded me with the handle. "Stop it!" I said between giggles. "It tickles!" I shrieked.
He advanced, herding me out the door, laughing. It felt weird laughing, but I had gotten really close with Jason, and I knew I could trust him. I can't believe that I was so quiet with Jason and now he was chasing me around my house. He chased me down the hall, Storm running after us, me shrieking like a four year-old.
I ran down the stairs laughing and Jason chased me into the dining room. There was steak and salad on the table, and Jason's parents were sitting down already. They were laughing and talking to my parents, who had big grins on their faces. I sat down at my usual spot, and Storm curled up at my feet. Jason took a seat next to me.
I was sweaty and grinning from running like a madman around the house. As we were eating, I slipped a piece of steak to Storm who was waiting patiently. I looked back at Jason, whose eyes were wide. I silently put a finger to my lips. He smiled and nodded.
Once we finished Storm and I bolted upstairs and threw ourselves on my bed. Storm's tail was wagging madly. I gave him a huge bear hug around the neck. Jason came jogging up to my room. He sat on the floor and we talked for hours, until his parents told him he had to go.
As he was walking out the door, he wrapped his arms around me in an embrace. I hugged him back, happy to have someone who understood me and went through what I did. I watched him drive away, and shut the door, when I hear Katharine making kissing noises behind me. I glared at her.
"What are you laughing at?" I snapped.
"I told you that you are perfect together!" She sang. I glared at her once more, and checked the clock. It was only 9:15 but I was exhausted. I yawned and lumbered up to my room and I flopped onto my bed and Storm came up to me. He stretched his body against mine with his back into my stomach. I soon fell asleep into a soft dreamless sleep. It was the best one I've had in a while.
