Chapter 57

read through the messages again and Sam comes over to me so I quickly turn my phone off.

I look at him weirdly.

"I'm going to head back to my apartment to shower and change."

"Okay, just come over whenever you're ready"

"Ok," I say and grab my things.

"Love you"

I say when he walks out.

I walk to my apartment and shower and change.

I change Brennen's name back to Brennen and I get ready.

I sit on the couch for a minute and turn the tv on.

I get ready and sit down on the couch.

I skim through channels before finding something good.

I wait till one-thirty to go over to Sam's apartment.

I hear a knock on my door so I stand up and open it.

I smile a bit

"You ready to go?"

I nod and grab my phone. We walk out and head to the elevator.

Brennen texts me again

Brennen: Please come over!!

When we get to the bottom we go to my car and I start driving.

Brennen keeps calling me

"Jesus fucking Christ"

I say and deny the call.

"What's up with you and your phone?"

"Brennen"

I say and he calls me again.

"Oh."

I answer the call just to see what he wants and Sam tells me to put it on speaker so I do.

I don't say anything when Brennen speaks.

"What is it, Brennen?"

(Brennen)

"I miss you!"

"We're not together anymore"

(Brennen)

"So what?"

"Brennen-"

He cuts me off.

(Brennen)

"Come on! He doesn't have to know"

"It doesn't matter! I'm not going to do that to him"

(Brennen)

"You didn't think twice when you did it to me!"

I bite my lip.

I bite the inside of my cheek.

"That's different"

(Brennen)

"How?!?"

"I didn't fucking love you!"

(Brennen)

I pause for a second

"So you lied to me?"

"What?"

(Brennen)

"Every time you ever told me you loved me was a lie. God Colby, you're such an ass!"

"Wh- No, I-"

He hangs up.

I continue to bite the inside of my cheek.

I put my head back and sigh.
