I rode with Jessica and her brother in his car, on the way to her house I could feel him glancing at me from time to time. As we got to the outskirts of town, he turned into a road I never realized was there, I tried not to let my nervousness show but I could not help clutching my hands tightly and I tried not to shiver whenever I felt his eyes on me.
What am I doing, how am I sure I can trust them, just because they said they were werewolves does not mean it is true. For all I know they could be crazy or this was just a prank and even more serious was that even if it was true, by an odd chance they were really werewolves, they could be enemies of mermaids and I could be walking into a trap. Just as I was about to have a panic attack I remembered the look in Jason's eyes when he saw me and I calmed down. That can't be faked, nobody could fake that. If he could fake that look then there was no escaping them because I believed him, I wanted to because I have been feeling lonely and scared since this whole episode started. Always on edge and not knowing who to trust while trying to keep this huge secret from everybody. I am tired of feeling this way and need the fear to go away, I feel like if I take this step I could achieve that and I would regret it for the rest of my life if I missed it.
Jane would probably call me stupid right now. The car drove down a drive way with different houses on each side of the road with this large four story building at the middle surrounded by the smaller houses. It was like a small community of its own and it was beautiful. "We are here." Jessica said before getting out of the car and walking towards the large house.
I got out of the car to follow her and I could see that the rest of her friends were already here and we were all going in the same direction. I saw other people there but aside from giving me a glance they ignored me when they saw the people walking with me.
Inside the house we entered the game room and Jason asked those inside to give us privacy. As soon as we were sitting all eyes were on me. "So, it's about time you tell us what you are." Constance said. "I would like to see your wolves first, you don't expect me to believe you are werewolves just because you said so, I want to check to be sure."
Jason looked at Tyler and said "Shift." Immediately i heard bones breaking in a very horrifying way that made me thankful my transformation was only weird and painful the first time. It did not take long before a gigantic brown coloured wolf was standing before me. My jaw dropped to the floor and the only thought that crossed my mind was twilight, he is as huge if not more than the wolves in twilight and could not ever be mistaken from a normal wolf.
He laid on the floor and I could not take my eyes from him when I heard laughter from Jessica. I looked up and saw that they were all laughing at me. "Okay, your turn to tell us what you are." Jason said. "Before I do that you have to promise you won't hurt me." I said. "What, are you a vampire or something hideous? Why won't you tell us." Cain said I could feel the anger rising in him.
Jason let out a growl and he kept quiet, after staring down everyone else in the room who wanted to say something he turned and looked straight into my eyes, "I promise nothing will happen to you, I would never let any harm come to you."
I studied him for sometime before taking a deep breath, looking straight into his eyes I said, "I'm a mermaid." They paused for a minute before they started laughing, "Nice try, we know there are no mermaids, if they were why don't we have any knowledge about them in our records." Andrew said while laughing. "I am not joking, I started changing about a month ago, I can prove it if you want."
"Okay, prove it to me then, how will you do that?" Tyler said but I could tell by the tone of his voice that he did not believe me though and was just humouring me. I looked around and saw a glass of water on the table.
"Okay, I will." I said and pulled off my jacket. I walked to the table, picked up the water and poured it on my hand. I watched their expression as the changes took over me and I could practically hear the sound of their jaws hitting the floor from surprise. "The full transformation occurs when I am in the water."
It was like they did not hear what I said, they were just staring at me like I was an alien. Jessica let out a scream, "Oh my God, a real life mermaid like Ariel, that is so cool, I so want to see that." She was practically jumping in glee and I could see the same excitement in the eyes of the other girls, the guys just grinned and brushed it off but I could not see any hint of murderous intentions in their eyes.
I let out a sigh before saying, "Does that mean you are not going to kill me?" "Why would we do that?" Constance asked. "I thought you guys may hate mermaids and want to kill me." "Even if we do, we would not kill you for no reason unless you do something that threatens us and now we know you are Jason's mate, we would never harm you, rather we will protect you." Jessica said.AUTHORS NOTE----------------------------
