SECRET TAIL

CHAPTER SIXTEEN

        It was finally the day for my date with Jason, I was so excited that anybody could see it on me. On the way to school this morning, I could not say anything to Jason out of nervousness wandering if I say something wrong will he still go out with me.

I asked him not to pick me up after school as I will be heading to Katie's to get ready for our date. Jane was still suspicious of his motives but I tried not to let her doubt affect me and Katie was as supportive as ever.

After school, Jane dropped us off at Katie's place, her mum was out so we had the house to ourselves. "I know you are excited about your date." She said to me as we walked up the stairs to her room. "So where exactly is he taking you?"

"I don't know, he said it was a surprise but I should dress casual." I could see the disapproval in her eyes after she heard what I said. "Casual can go different ways like is it going to be outdoors or indoors, like are you skating or bowling, will there be dancing, would it be somewhere cold or hot. This information is necessary to pick the perfect outfit." She said.

"That's why I have you, my very own fashion guru to decide for me." I held onto her arms as I said that. She let out a sigh saying, "Okay, go and have a bath while I pick something simple out of these." She chased me to the bathroom and opened the bag I brought with me.

I walked out of the bathroom in a robe and she held two gowns up to me, "One of these will do for simple and casual. I prefer the blue as it matches your eyes and hair."

"The blue it is then, let me put it on." I grabbed it and ran into the bathroom. When I walked out, Katie stared at me in shock. This gown was one of the few that still fit me after my change, it normally fell down to a little inches below my knees but now it was some inches above my knees.

The design was not very complicated, had different flowers drawn on it, the blue was not dark, more of a sky blue colour with other colours intertwined to give the flowers a more vibrant look. It was tighter in the chest region before falling down with a fled.

I had bought it on one of those spur of the moment shopping spree hoping one day I would have the shape to fill it out and now I do. The chest area no longer looked like it was floating and the fled fell on my curves beautifully.

"You look amazing, sit here let me do your hair and makeup." She dragged me to her bed to sit as she talked. " You don't need much makeup added to your face, you already look gorgeous. Just a little eyeliner and mascara to make your eyes pop out and a lipstick. How can your skin be this good even when nothing is applied to it. For your hair, let's do a ponytail to keep it simple."

She kept on talking as she worked, full of energy as usual. I tried my best not to laugh so as not to spoil her masterpiece. She completed the look with a black Nike boyfriend shoe. Standing before the mirror I felt it looked perfect.

I heard the doors open and knew her mum was home, "Your mum is here." I told her as I dragged her downstairs and picked my purse along the way. "Good evening Mrs Brown." I said as soon as I got downstairs.

"Hello Chloe, how are you, have not seen you around in a while." She asked me while opening the fridge and bringing out a container filled with cookies. "I've been around. I have missed these cookies, you know me so well Mrs Brown." I said while stuffing myself with the cookies. "It's like I am invincible and you only have eyes for Chloe, welcome mum." Katie said sulking but still reaching for the cookies and who can blame her Mrs Brown made the best homemade cookies in the world.

I laughed at her attitude and was about to retaliate when the door bell rang at exactly 6pm. Katie went to answer the door before yelling, it's for you Chloe. "See you later Mrs Brown" I said before walking outside to meet Jason who arrived on time, the minute he saw me he just stared, like I was the most beautiful sight he had ever seen in his life.

I was caught looking in his eyes, he was dressed casually in jeans and he looked heavenly to me but the look he had in his eyes when he saw me was what trapped me in his gaze. I walked towards him when I heard Katie laugh quietly to herself, I bet she is having fun at my expense. "Hey." I said when I got to him, "You look beautiful." He said while he took my hands and brought me to his car before opening the door for me.

When he got into the driver seat and started the car, I turned in my seat to face him and asked, "Where are we going to." "It's a surprise, you will find out when we get there."

      'Lets continue the game we started the other day while we drive there?' 'Sure, you go first.' I replied.

            'What's your favorite  color.' 'Blue. yours.' 'The color of your eyes.' he replied, I laughed and said to him, 'That's so cliché and cringe worthy. How can you say that with a straight face.' 'But I am serious, my favorite color is blue but since the moment my gaze met yours, I fell in love with the color of your eyes now my favorite thing is to gaze at it.'

My jaw dropped in shock since I was so not expecting him to reply to me like that, I blushed deeply and smiled before taking his hand in mine. 'For real, should I really believe you.' I asked him with a sweet smile on my face.

He glanced at me and laughed when he saw my expression before saying, 'You know I can't lie to you right?' I leaned into him while still holding his hand and I rested my face on his arm, while still giving him a cute smile I asked with a low voice, 'Then should I also change my favorite color, should it also be the color of your eyes. I should stare at you closely until I make up my mind.' He glanced at me again and as soon as he saw how close I was to him his eyes visibly darkened and he took a deep breath and tensed up.

'I changed my mind, I wont change my favorite color to the color of your eyes, instead I will change it to the color your eyes get when it darkens like this.'

    He tightly gripped the steering and told me, 'You should really not tempt me while I am driving, it's not safe, why don't you wait until we get to where we are going and say that again, then I will give you a proper answer.'

'But I want your answer now.' I pouted like a little kid and tugged at his arm. when I saw his eyes darken further I knew that was enough teasing for now. I laughed and said, 'Well for now my favorite color will be both colors when I make up my mind I will tell you the answer. so where exactly are we going?' I asked him while returning to my seat.

        'Its a surprise but I promise you you are going to love it.' 'Okay, but you should know that patience has not been one of my strengths especially when it comes to waiting patiently for surprises. I will try to hold it in and not pester you for more details, so how far is it?' He laughed when he heard me and shook his head, 'So this is you holding it in, I wonder what will happen if you don't.  We are almost there, so you don't need to hold yourself back, rather close your eyes, don't open it until I tell you.'
