"Why does Charlie think I'm coming over for dinner tomorrow?" Nia asked, looking at her mother

"Why does Charlie think I'm coming over for dinner tomorrow?" Nia asked, looking at her mother. As much as Nia loved her mother, she hated it when she kept secrets from her or didn't tell her what was going on, even when she asked.

Marianna shrugged, "I made a deal with Charlie. You would go over for dinner whenever he asked and you would stay with me while you are still in school. Didn't I tell you already?"

Nia rolled her eyes at her mothers forgetfulness, "Would I be asking if you did. Why though? I don't want to see Bella. It's going to be awkward. I love dad but why can't he come here?"

"You need to spend time with your father, sweetheart. I don't want whatever is happening between you and Bella to get in between your relationship with your father. You love him and he loves you. Just go the dinner." Marianna pleaded her daughter.

"You're lucky I love you." Nia pouted.

"I know." Marianna smirked before continuing, "Have you talked to your brothers yet."

"Nope."

"You know you can't keep dragging this out."

"Mum, I seriously think you underestimate me."

"What are you doing out here?" A voice spoke from behind her

"What are you doing out here?" A voice spoke from behind her. Nia had decided to get some fresh air, preparing herself for the dinner with her father and half-sister.

"I'm fine, you know. You didn't have to follow me." Nia replied. She knew it was Embry but she also knew it was Sam that told him to make sure she didn't wonder too far. With vampires lurking in the dark, the Alpha wanted to make sure she was safe.

Embry smiled softly as he sat down next to her, "I know but I needed to make sure you were okay. Besides, you look like you could use someone to talk to. What do you say? You willing to spill your guts to me?" He couldn't describe it but he just knew she needed him, needed someone to talk to and he had promised himself he would become whatever she needed him to be, especially her friend. He didn't want them to become something she wasn't ready for and he'd never force her into anything she wasn't comfortable with.

Nia contemplated the offer and thought why the hell not. Nia sighed before continuing, "Its just a lot to deal with. Schools been hard, especially with finals coming up and the volleyball championship. Mum and Dad are always busy so I don't get to see them. Bella has always been complicated but I'm done. I can't keep putting her first anymore. I matter too." She hated feeling overwhelmed but everything was finally getting to her and she was glad Embry was willing to listen to her rant about everything going on in her life.

Embry listened to her rant before placing a comforting hand on her shoulder, "If you need help with school, I'm sure Paul and Jared would love to help. I know you care about your parents but they won't know how much you miss them until you tell them. They love you, don't forget that. As far as Bella is concerned, you have done what you can. You need to focus on yourself too. Don't forget you matter too."

"Thank you. I guess I needed to hear that."

"Anytime. I'm here for you."

"Nia? What are you doing here?"

"Nia? What are you doing here?"

Nia rolled her eyes, "I'm not here for you. Dad wanted me over for dinner so I'm here for him. If you don't like that, that's your problem, not mine. I'm going to be civil because my mother raised me better than that." Nia didn't want a confrontation but unfortunately sometimes things don't work out the way you want them to.

Bella shook her head, "But you just left. I needed you and you left. Why? Why did you leave me?"

"Are you serious?! I was here. I was here while you did nothing but stare out of your window. I was here when you had nightmares. I was here when no one wanted to sit with you at lunch. I was here when Jacob dropped you. But you didn't care. I was here but you didn't care. You only cared about yourself and I'm done. I'm done with you being selfish. I'm done with you having no regard for anyone else, especially dad. You made your bed, now you can lie in it." Nia spoke as she glared at her sister. She was done with Bella's drama.

Before Bella could reply, Charlie walked into the kitchen. "Nia." He smiled as he hugged his youngest daughter.

"Hey, dad." Nia smiled as she hugged the old man. She was glad he didn't notice the tension in the room. Not that Nia was ready to explain to him what was going on between them.

"You ready to eat pizza and watch some football?"

"With you, old man? Always."
