Travis
"Come on, man! Answer the dang phone!" I'm yelling at nothing because Luc refuses to pick up. I've been blowing up his phone for an hour but still...nothing.
The guy is as stubborn as they come. When he's got his mind set on something, its like moving a frigging ice berg to get him to change course. And he's dug in with this Sophie situation.
I shove my phone into my back pocket and grab my room key. No use hanging out in the hotel room alone with no answers. I figure I'll get the same amount of answers lounging at the pool bar then I will sitting in the room. None.
Making sure the room is locked, I pull the door shut then move down the hall to the elevator. As I'm waiting for the ding of the elevator's arrival, my butt vibrates. Hoping it's Luc texting me, I pull the phone out immediately.
I see that it's Lacey, not Luc, just telling me her status, and deflate a little. Crap. Since when does a text from my woman disappoint me? Thanks a lot, Luc. His drama is now affecting my relationship and I'm not having it.
The elevator door opens and I step in, now fuming that I'm having to deal with this on what should be a great day. My best friend is supposed to be marrying the woman of his dreams tomorrow. We should be together celebrating the end of his life as a pathetic single jack hole.
Yeah I said it. He can be a jack hole. And not that being single is pathetic, but for Luc, it was. Completely pathetic.
He came alive when he met Sophie. Even though I didn't know her before Luc came along, I can tell she did too. Lacey is in disbelief at how much calmer and happier Sophie is now.
Sure she still has meltdowns. I really can't fault her for them, either. What I used to think was attention-seeking drama I now realize is almost crippling anxiety. Luc has been a rock for her. Why can't she see that? Why is she pushing him away when she should be holding on to him for all she's worth?
And why the heck would he disappear when he knows damn well how Sophie will react?
Fuming all over again, I stomp out of the elevator only to slam right into the jack hole in question.
"What the hell, man!" I shout into his face. I'm totally worked up but he needs a dose of reality so I'm prepared to dish it out. "You can't slip off like that. You know what it does to her, therefore what it does to Lacey. And that affects me." I poke him in the chest when what I really want to do is knock him out.
"Whoa," Luc says with hands raised. "It's not how it looks."
He doesn't look pissed or upset at all. In fact he looks remarkably...enthusiastic.
"Well, what is it then?" I shove him away from the elevators and over to a corner where we can escape the eyes and ears of other guests.
"Let's just call this an opportunity." He's smirking now as he reaches into his back pocket and pulls out a square of paper that he hands to me.
I glance at it and feel my shock take over my entire face. I look back at Luc to see the grin on his face, smug with satisfaction. "Dang, bro. You got some plans now, don't you."
"Was there any doubt? So let's get started. I'm gonna need all the help I can get."
If it ends the drama and brings my woman back from babysitting, I'm in.

More plans! Yay!! And don't you wish you knew what they were...soon my friends! Keep clicking!
