Sophie
Happily ever after. I guess that's what this is. I mean, this place certainly isn't a castle, but our little condo has become home to me. Luc has done everything he could to make it special. And we have been happy for the last four months as husband and wife.
That still freaks me out a little. But I've kept that ice cream sweatshirt in the back of my pajama drawer so things must be going well.
"Hey, babe, can you give me a hand?" Luc is standing just outside the front door peeking around the threshold when he calls to me.
"What do you need?" I've been in the kitchen, cleaning. Sort of. More like organizing the dishtowels from oldest to newest. What can I say, I'm a work in progress.
"Just need you to lift one end so I can bring this up the porch steps." He shrugs.
"Bring what in? What did you buy?"
"Um...something. Just come help, okay?" Luc's face turns a bit red.
Is he blushing? "Oh my gosh, what the heck did you do?" I rush to the doorway to see what's going on, and promptly come to a halt when I see what's waiting outside the door.
"A jogging stroller?" My mouth drops open after I read the label on the box. "Um, Luc, sorry to tell you but there's no bun in this oven." At least not yet, not that we're planning to bake any buns anytime soon.
"I'm well aware of that, Sophie. I got a deal, and it seems like an appropriate item for an Aunt and Uncle to have in the closet just in case." Luc motions for me to lift one end of the box, which I do, then he guides us into the condo.
Good thing we're on the first floor. There's no way I'd be able to help him out if we had flights to carry this thing.
"I thought jogging strollers were supposed to be light and easy to maneuver." I can hardly get the words out due to all of the grunting from exerting myself with this box.
As we finally set the thing down in the living room, Luc makes some excuse. "It's unassembled, so the sum of its parts take up less airspace, causing the mass to be condensed. Once it's put together and the mass is redistributed it will be much lighter."
"Hmm, that's what she said." I snicker to myself. That joke never gets old. "I still don't think we'll be having any jogging emergencies that warrant an entire specialized stroller for a kid who isn't our actual niece or nephew."
Luc just gapes at me. "Are you feeling okay? You and I both know that our bond with Travis and Lacey's offspring will be as close as any blood relative. Closer, actually. And I have no doubt that we will be babysitting often enough that they will appreciate having a stroller handy. The kid can even nap in it. We're outdoor people, so the jogging feature is a requirement."
"Correction; you and Travis are outdoor people. Lacey and I prefer the spa." I have a hard time making that declaration after my last spa experience. I was so toasted and sleepy after all the Mai Tai's that I don't even remember it.
"Lacey is a convert. And eventually you will be too. I'm guessing it will happen right after our first hike with the baby in this stroller." Luc keeps talking as he opens the box, apparently not wasting any time getting this thing assembled to redistribute its mass.
"A hike? Since when did it morph from a jog to a hike?" My voice reveals the level of my indignation. Pretty indignant based on the high pitch.
"Oh Soph." Luc grabs me by the waist and hauls me close. "Didn't you read the box? It's great for jogging and hiking in multiple terrains. That's why I got this one." He leans a little closer so his lips just brush my ear. "And I saved fifty percent." He whispers.
"Well if that isn't your mating call, I don't know what is." I throw my arms around his neck. "Let's redistribute some mass in another room."
"That's what she said." He laughs.
"She sure did." I take him by the hand and show him the proper method of redistribution.

*snickers to self* Those two crack me up. And oops for the long delay in the Epilogue party! I don't know exactly why...maybe I'm not looking forward to the inevitable goodbye, because I feel like this is it for these characters. I'm not sure I have another season in me.
But, famous last words right? Anyway, click on for some baby-related clickbait!!
