Josephine
The halls of West Beverly High School were filled with gossip and drama, and of course, being the new student from Australia, I'm on the short end of the stick. I'm the talk of the town and I'm the victim of the drama.
It's hard moving across the world and starting a new school, especially when you know you won't be there forever. It's only until January.
I had three rules made for while I'm here:
1. No relationships
2. Keep your friends at arms length
3. Don't completely fuck up your Junior year at West Beverly.I turn my combination and open my locker. Smoke shoots out of the locker and my shirt becomes stained by purple and pink powder. I drop all my stuff to the floor and look around the hall. One girl is laughing. She's taller than I am and has dark purple hair.
"Shit. Sorry, that was meant for my boyfriend. His locker is 243." She says and approaches slowly, looking at my locker. 242.
"I'm literally so sorry, I have extra clothes in my locker if you need them." She tells me and I shake my head.
"It's fine. School gets out in a few minutes." I reply and grab my stuff, shoving it into my messy backpack. I get up and walk away from her, heading straight into the girls bathroom.
I turn on the sink and rip out a clump of paper towels, I ball it up and begin to wipe the powder from my face. Clumps fall to the sink and my face slowly clears of the nasty powders that cover it. I throw away the paper towel and strut out of the girls bathroom. As I go, Brenda catches up to me. I was staying with the Walsh's during my stay in the United Stated. They're nice. Almost too nice. Brenda is a goody-two shoes who sneaks around and Brandon is the poster kid for America's golden boy.
Cindy and Jim are at least caring, they even respect my privacy. They told me if I ever need someone to talk to, I can talk to them.
"Jo! Brandon and I are meeting up with our friends at The Peach Pit, do you want to come with?" Brenda asks and drops her bag into Brandon's car..
"Ummm. Can I meet you guys there? I have to shower and clean up first." I reply and set my bag in the car. The two of her in and wait for Brandon.
"Of course, my bike is on the back porch if you want to borrow it and I'll have Brandon send you the address." She replies, Brandon approaches slowly, and climbs into the car.
"What happened to you?" He questions as he sits down and starts the car.
"Some girl tried to prank her boyfriend but put it in the wrong locker." I respond and groan.

We arrive back to Casa Walsh and Brandon parks the car to let me out. I take both of their bags and go in, allowing them to leave me here.I set Brenda's bag on her bed, then hang Brandon's on his door knob. I go right to the guest bedroom and drop my bag on my bed, then, without hesitation, strip off my t-shirt and struggle to get out of my jeans.
My phone vibrates. The address from Brandon finally went through.
I grab my denim shorts and my baggy sweater,Then go to the bathroom. I lock both doors and turn on the shower, hanging a towel on the hook, then stepping into the fast, rushing water.

I lock the front door and mount myself onto Brenda's bike. I pedal down the driveway and turn on the side walk. My phone is in the basket and is directing me to The Peach Pit.I arrive a few minutes later, then park Brenda's bike next to Brandon's car. I stop google maps and push past two people arguing by the door, entering the restaurant. They're sitting in their normal booth, circled by the others.
I had met them once before, at an end of summer barbecue. I pull up and chair and sit between Steve and Andrea.
"Hey Guys." I exclaim as I Down and take Steve's glass, bringing it to my lips and taking a sip without asking. I decided early on that I need to play hard to get to find my hookups. Nothing serious, maybe a few nights in bed. And Steve will be the first. He's easy, easier than the others, especially since he's one of the only single boys here.
"Nice to see you to Jo." Steve says and takes his straw out of the cup, then presses his lips to where mine once sat.
I bite my lip teasingly and I pull out my phone, but as I do, another boy enters, then sits between Kelly and Brandon, "Sorry, I gotta go guys. Text you later?" He says and turns to Kelly. She nods.
He's tall. Taller than Steve and Brandon, but not as tall as Dylan. His brown hair was waved back and his green orbs glowed like stars in the nighttime sky. Our eyes lock for a moment. A few seconds. Then our eyes break apart and I'm spacing out.
"I'll add you to our group chat." She replies and he nods, then leaves.
"Who's he?" I ask and set down my phone.
"Kelly's new friend, Hero. He just moved here from England." Brenda replies. I nod slowly and we all sit in silence. It's only like that a few seconds, because Brenda and Dylan make some lousy excuse about how they have to go 'study'.
Andrea leaves, saying her Grandma is expecting her home soon. Steve just gets up and leaves, and Kelly, Donna, and David said they have somewhere to be. I sit in silence, not wanting to bother Brandon as he sat in silence across from me. He was on his phone.
Typing something.
My phone vibrates a few seconds later and a text appears,
You Ready To Go?
I nod, "Yeah, let's go."
The two of us get up and walk out the front door. Brandon lifts Brenda's bike and sets it in the backseat of his convertible. I climb in the front seat for the first time and pull out my phone. I open Instagram and scroll aimlessly through my feed while Youngblood by 5 Seconds Of Summer blares our of the speakers.
As Brandon goes to turn onto the main road, his phone rings.
He answers the call and brings it to his ear, "What's Up Bren?"
After a few seconds, he hangs up and turns as if we were going back to the house, he parks the car on the side of the road, "Take Brenda's bike up to the porch. Tell Jim and Cindy that I went to go take Andrea home. They won't question it." He tells me as he lifts the bike out of the backseat.
"What happened?" I ask as I take the handle bars.
"Someone hit Dylan's car. They spun out and crashed. Brenda said the guy was drunk." He replied as he gets back in the car. He drives away, leaving me in the darkness in the Walsh's driveway.

HERO
"You okay? You seem upset." I whisper through the fence. The girl was quiet."Yeah. I just miss home." She whispers. The voice wasn't one of the Walsh's. It had an accent. A very subtle accent, either English or Australian.
"You arent from here either?" I ask. I wish I could put a face to the voice, but I couldn't. I couldn't even see her.
"No. I'm from Australia. My names Josephine." She replies, "Where are you from?"
