Josephine
The entire Junior and Senior classes are lining down the hallway with backpacks and other important things we'll need. Hero's hand holds mine, yet so we don't get in trouble, we hide our hands behind his back.
His back is sweating from the warm weather, making out skin stick against his loose fitted T-shirt.
"Want to sit together on the bus?" He asks as the two grades pack their bags onto the bus. I shrug. I could care less.
"Of course, Hero." I say and hug him. He smiles, and I follow him onto bus two. Bus two was the nicer bus, softer seats, Wi-Fi, and heat.
Hero leads me to a seat in the back and grabs my hand. I pull it away for a second and stand up to put my backpack in the overhead.
"Babe, can you help me?" I ask as I can't reach it. He nods and stands up, putting his bag up with mine. I smile and kiss him before we sit down.
We snuggle up on the seat, his arm holding me tightly.
As the day goes on, the bus keeps driving. The teacher said it was a four-hour drive, it honestly feels longer than that. Rain drops down the window and makes the day feel sadder than it should be.
Brenda and Kelly are behind me. Steve and Brandon in front. I'm boxed in.
Hero grabs my hand and I pull my body closer to his.
An hour later, the bus arrives at the campground. We all get off and carry our bags out and to the soft, damp dirt.
The rain died down and makes the air cool and moist. It's comforting.
"Woah." Kelly says and looks around the vast area. Trees tower almost as high as skyscrapers, and mist falls over the camp. Kids are already grouping together. Like they would at school. Once everyone is off the bus, the camp leaders try and get all of our attention by blowing their whistles.
"Girls, you go to the left, boys to the right." One shouts, and the crowds split. I stay with my two close friends and hold their hands, so we don't get split up. She hands a few girls a list, then does the same for the boys.
We look over the list to find out what cabin we're staying in. Thank god I was with Brenda and Kelly. I recognized the names of the five other girls from some of my classes last year.
We head to cabin 4B and push open the door. There's one light hanging from the ceiling and bunk beds line the walls across the room.
"Oh shit." One of the girls says.
Kelly immediately runs for the bed in the corner. I follow and pick the bed above her. Laying out my sleeping bag across my bed and making sure all my chargers are plugged in and my bags are set in secure places.
We go out to the main area of the camp. It overlooks a giant lake, a light fog covering the cold water. Hero is waiting at a bench. His blue raincoat hung from his shoulders. I walk up to him and he stands.
"Josephine. Are you settled in?" He asks and kisses my forehead. Someone blows a whistle. I pull his lips down and stand on my tiptoes, our lips are so close I can feel the heat from his breathing, but we're soon interrupted.
"No PDA!" The camp leader shouts and I leave his side.
Whispering the words, "I love you."
He nods and repeats me.
I join Brenda and Kelly at a park bench off to the side, Kelly is facing toward the lake, taking pictures using her Snapchat camera, while Brenda is facing me. Scanning the area.
