Tears slipped down his cheeks, and he wrapped himself in the duvet. The things he loved most in this world were gone and he was alone again. This was worse them being frozen in ice for seven decades. More tears slipped down his cheeks as he remembered the events.
Tony said they would stay together no-matter-what. After what happened during the Sokovia Accords he and Tony had fallen out and Steve had wished desperately that the genius had called him. When Tony finally did, it was a life-threatening situation. Not trying to re-kindle their past love.
Steve understood why it was more than wrong of him to abandon his husband for his childhood boyfriend. Tony had moved on with Stephen and Bucky was put in a coma state in Wakanda. When Tony did call him, Steve had rushed to the man's side and tried to apologise. Tony had only told him to save it, but the night before Thanos hit; Tony had come into Steve's room, crying.
Steve just opened his arms and the smaller man cried into his shirt while Steve held him. After, Steve promised that they would stay together no-matter-what. But when the situation came Tony chose Stephen over him, Tony left for Titan and took their son with him.
Peter was the only other thing Steve had. Even after the airport and Peter siding with Tony, Steve still made weekly visits in secret with the boy. He gave the boy presents for all the holidays and tried his hardest to be part of his life.
Tony only got annoyed at this and Steve just said that the boy was as much legally his as he was Tony's. Tony and Peter left with Stephen and Steve was left alone.
When Thanos snapped his fingers, Steve feared the worst and for a while, suicide had been on the plate. But the hope that his son and husband were still alive kept him going.
Steve laid back down when Natasha ran into his room.
"Get up. You're going to want to see this." She said dragging him out the door by the hand. Steve's eyes were puffy and his nose was red from crying. The alight figure of Captain Marvel was carrying a ship.
When she set it down on the ground a shakey Tony got out. Steve's eyes lit up then sadness flashed over them as he saw the state of his lover. None of the less Steve ran to Tony and brought him into his chest, toying his fingers in the other man's hair and repetitively apologising.
