Take A Chance On Me

Chapter 1

It was years later from the New York incident, Tony was very much okay now, but tensions between the team were running high. It felt like they were about to side against each other ever since Strucker's Fortress, something about Tony had been off, he and Bruce had been locked in Tony's lab ever since they came back. Steve had payed no attention to it, he and Natasha had attended briefing then Steve had locked himself in the gym. Needing to get away he had gone straight to boxing.

Delivering blow after blow onto the bag, whenever he got into this mood, images flashed through his head. Images of Bucky falling of the train, memories of Peggy's voice and the Red Skull revealing who he was.

He felt lost, like he no longer knew his surroundings even though it had been a few years since he had come out of the ice everything was still new and difficult. Hell, he had a list of things he still had to do. Tony and him hadn't been the same. What was weirder was that being gay was okay now, funny he would've been shamed for it back in the 30's. Another blow the bag and it was sent off the hook.

"Steve?" He whirled around to face the direction of where the voice had came from, tensed. It was Pepper Potts.
"How did you get in?" He said, trying to hid his annoyed tone of voice and failing, Steve was sure he locked the door and he hated it when people interrupt his moments of PTSD.

"I have access to all rooms in the tower." She said her professional tone of voice told him she had dealt with ruder. "Anyway, have you seen Tony? We have that party later to plan." She smiled coldly.
"Not since we got back." Steve ground his teeth down, he felt pissed Pepper had interrupted him in a private state, these times when he got like this, had flash backs or symptoms of PTSD he preferred to be alone then in the company of someone else. "He's probably in his lab."

"That's what I thought too, but I can't get in." Pepper said her tone seemed unbothered, Tony was the only above Pepper that could lock her out of a room.
"Um... I'll go see after I check on Clint." Steve said, dragging the broken boxing bag to the pile of the other broken boxing bags.
"Alright." Pepper said, she was now focused on the iPad in her hands. "Oh and tell him to hurry up, I'm busy now, I can't do everything."

What the hell was Tony doing down there that he couldn't have his assistant seeing. Weird. The door opened and close, symbolising that Pepper had left. Well, let's get this over with. Steve shrugged on a track top and left his gym room to see how Clint was doing.

The archer had been injured during the assault and now due to all of this technology he would recover within a day or less. It was weird all these advancements in tech, in the 30's if you had been shot you would've died within the hour. Clint was lying on a table with Natasha next to him. Natasha never talked about how they met or her past, it was expected that she had been mentally scared in the red room.

"How are you doing?" Steve asked as he approached the two. Natasha was still in her cat suit, obviously not wanting to leave her bestfriend's side.
"Good, I think..." Clint smiled lopsidedly, the smile not reaching his eyes though.

"He is alright." Dr. Helen Cho said, "The fake skin and flesh is almost identical to what was there, your own girlfriend won't be able to tell the difference."
"Oh she will." Clint huffed an injured laugh and looked at Nat. Weird again. Steve decided to pay no attention to it.

Steve nodded and left the company of the Dr., Nat and Clint to find Tony. The team seemed distant, like secrets were being hidden and alliances being decided. He was probably just over thinking it though, his time in the war affecting his opinion

Tony was as expected, in fact hidden inside of his lab with none other then Bruce Banner, the two could be up to no good after locking Pepper out of the lab. All Steve had to do was tell Tony to get out and prepare for the party.

"Tony is Ultron is real, how do you know he has mankind's best interests at heart?" Banner tried to reason with the man, but as hard headed as Stark was he knew it was impossible.
"Ultron will be Earth's protection, a suit of armor around the world" Tony said, not bothering to look up from what he was doing. "Ultron will be our salvation."

A knock at the lab door caused both men to look up suddenly.
"Tony, get your ass out here." Steve's voice sounded through the room.
"Watch your language Rogers." Tony remarked, whispering to Bruce to continue.
"Very funny Stark, we need to talk." Steve insisted.

Tony did as the super soldier instructed and exited the lad to find the super soldier in a skin tight workout top and a track jacket over top. A breath caught in Tony's chest at the sight and he had to drag his eyes away from the taller man's abs and to his face instead.
"Yes?" He asked.
"Pepper wants you, something about the party later." Steve told him, Tony smiled and left to find Miss. Potts, leaving Steve feeling suspicious.
