Nothing is ever going to be easy here I conclude. Even after the un- kidnapping we did, there was still more. I wanted a break.
"So you mean to tell me that important information on all of our lives have been given to the bad guys by one of us?" I asked again.
Hearing that I've been being stalked and it was a confirmed thing did not sit well with me. This is beyond me and one hundred percent unsafe.
"Yes. How many times are you going to ask him to repeat it?" Uma responds growing impatient with my lack of ability to comprehend.
"Sorry." I mumbled. "But I have to go to school still. Do you think it's safe?"
Ryder shrugs at me. "We could have some people with you there if you really want to go." He suggested.
"Or you could just stay here." Asher says. "Better safe then sorry."
"Or I could go." I tell him. "I'll be fine, I don't think I'm really a target since I barely know anything."
"True, but they might've saw you last night." Uma adds on. "So taking people with you would be best if you do go."
"It was definitely Maria, but she's dead... I think?" I say. "I shot her in the chest."
"She couldn't have survived that." Ryder agrees.
I wish I knew how he was feeling, he hadn't shown any remorse to the death of his beloved girlfriend or whatever she was to him. It was almost like he didn't care.
"Are you done staring at me?" Ryder throws his napkin at me to get me out of my daze.
"There's something on your face dude." I said playing it off.
He frowns at me, like I'm disappointing him. "What?"
I nod my head. "Yes, just as I thought. Last night I think someone infected you." I give him a small sad smile.
"You're so funny, you should do stand up comedy." He replies.
"I've thought about that." I start rubbing my chin in fake deep thought. "Your case of being annoying might be my first act."
"We're so off topic." I hear Asher mumble.
Ryder stares at me with annoyance laced on his face. "Who's annoying?"
"I think you already know that answer." Uma chimes in. "With all offence."
"Go find your boyfriend and bother him." Ryder bites back at her.
She takes a step back and fakes terror. "Oh no! Not my boyfriend." She laughs hysterically, just barely finishing her sentence.
"Alright take me to school Ryder, be useful to me." I tap the kitchen table. "We can brainstorm some ideas on the way there, Asher you and Uma can go back to the place see if you find anything."
"Look who's stepping up, okay boss." Ryder side eyes me. "Whatever you say goes."
"I'm so glad that you think you're funny, must be nice living in denial all these years." I snap at him.
"Yeah whatever." He rolls his eyes so far back I'm sure he saw God. "Get dressed and meet me at the front door, don't be late."
"Don't be an asshole."

"I'm thinking it's Maria to be completely honest." I said.
I glance over to see Ryder barely paying attention to me or the road. I hope he isn't planning on crashing the car or anything.
"Hello! Are you even listening?" I wave my hand in his face.
He slaps it away. "Can't you see I'm driving? Do you want to crash?"
"Stop ignoring me then." I huff.
"Your theory is lame, I just feel like we're missing something or someone." Ryder shrugs and turns to pull into the college parking lot.
"Maybe you're just mad I shot your shitty girlfriend." I say letting my jealousy out. "I feel like your emotions are getting in the way."
"Don't be like that." He smirks at me. "It's okay to be jealous, I am pretty hot."
"You wish you were."
Silence.
"You're definitely jealous. That's cute." Ryder snickers. "Just keep your phone on you and stay inside until I come back to pick you up."
"I can take care of myself, thank you very much." I push his car door open with more force than necessary.
"Like I said."
"Bitch." I mumbled.
I feel him staring but I ignore it.
"Anyways, take this with you." He hands me a bottle of pepper spray.
"Thanks." I replied sarcastically.
"You know–"
"Elena!" I turn to see professor Quid walking towards me.
"Hey Quid." I smile bright at him.
"Where have you been? We're starting new projects, are you joining class today?"
"Ah yes," I ignore the pinch Ryder places on my backside. "I was just dealing with some family problems."
"Great. If you ever need anything just stay after class and we can talk." Quid gives a short wave and walks off.
"He's up to something." Ryder says as soon as Quid is out of ear shot.
"That make you jealous?"
He scoffs. "Like evil something, it may involve getting in your pants but you know better than that."
"Do I?"
"You don't really have time to stand here all day, don't stay after class with him. End of discussion." He glares at me.
"I saw him talking to Maria, so maybe I will stay after." I cross my arms. "Get some information."
"You can try it all you want." He slides back into the car and drives off.
Not before flipping me off though. Fucking asshole.
I decided then and there that I was staying after class. Any information is good information.
