As a Great War rages between Elf and Dragon, ravishing and changing the land of Alagaësia, a gifted young Elf named Eragon is banished from Ellesmere and his beloved home for crimes that he did not commit. Wandering alone among the peaks and forests of the Spine Mountains beyond the realm of DuWeldenvarden, Eragon stumbles across a lone Dragon egg. From the egg hatches an ivory white Dragon, who will become Eragon's only friend and ally. Through tragedy, banishment, wilderness, racial hatred, and war, Eragon and his beloved, wise Dragon Bid'Daum struggle to restore peace between their vengeance-filled races. But can such an unlikely pair bring peace to a warring Alagaesia?

I changed some stuff from the original!
I changed some timeline details to better fit the story I wanted to tell, and I capitalize the names of the races. This fanfic is a re-write from the drafts I posted on SF3 and FF.net in the past - I'm explaining these details now so they won't be pointed out again and again and again in the comments later on.
Capitalizing race names: This has been pointed out to me SO MANY TIMES I've lost count. Yes, Paolini wrote the race names, such as "elf" and "dragon," in lowercase, whereas Tolkien favored capitalization of his races. I started my writing my story a long time ago with Elf and Dragon, with capital letters. Because I have used it with this story for so long before it was first pointed out to me, they will remain capitalized.
Timeline Changes: The war between the Elves and Dragons is supposed to last only five years, but for such powerful, magical creatures that nearly decimated each other, I figure that they at least had to beat out our World War II in length of time. Hence, the war potentially lasts much longer. The spell to bind the Elves and Dragons will not take the Queen and her spellcasters nearly a decade to figure out - just thinking about that makes me want to fall asleep. So, yes, they figure this out much quicker and also with the aid of Eragon, as he has already bonded with a Dragon.
