The sun blazed through the bedroom window as Ellie woke from a fantastic dream.
It wasn’t at all a usual type of dream that Ellie had experienced before. It was something far more colourful, intriguing, dazzling, sometimes a little complicated and involved travel. Something Ellie had always been excited by and now, on this beautiful morning… she had become inspired at the delight of the thought of it all.
Ellie gently rubbed her eyes and got used to the sun as it focused its warm rays on her pretty face, whilst she drifted between thoughts of her dream, the day ahead and what she should eat for breakfast.
For perhaps more than 10 minutes Ellie reflected upon the meaning of her dream and suddenly, “bzzzzzzdong”, off went the alarm on her phone, shocking her into life and enthusing her to stretch across the beautiful bed, in which she slept, and reach for her soft, white, silk gown.
Up she jumped and dashed immediately to the shower, she didn’t want to be late to meet Sajith, the “Prince” she had recently met in a mistaken phone call and needed to get prepared for. He had appeared so wonderful upon the phone and what a great chance it might be for her future to meet him!
Ellie reached through the crystal glass shower doors and turned on the taps that released the steady flow of shower drops that glistened like jewels, as they caught the sparkling light of the early morning sun through the window. It truly was going to be a beautiful day, she thought….
As the warmth of the shower water steamed in a haze, only touched by the clearest of sunlight, a rainbow appeared, dazzling Ellie with its pure clarity and strength of penetrating colour. She stepped back for a moment to breathe in the absolute wonder of this scene and how it again reminded her of her dream, which had ended only a short while ago.
Ellie thought how lovely this morning was and how, now feeling a little in a daze, that she might let in a little fresh air from the balcony French windows. She glanced over to the balcony doors and made her way towards them, feeling a like she was floating as she pulled them open to let in the mild breeze that was blowing from the sea.
It would be nice to sit on the balcony for a while, after her shower, and to sip some coffee before she decided what to wear for this special day. Coffee was Ellie’s favourite drink and she often hummed tunes to herself to a chorus of “I Love Coffee” throughout the day, which always made her giggle and feel happy. Today was no different.
As she looked out from the balcony, Loner, her musical dog, was trotting across the garden that overlooked the sea. Loner glanced up at Ellie with sad eyes that seem to say “please don’t take long in the shower again… and find me a nice bone to chew on”. Ellie always thought of this particular look, the same as she had just seen again in his eyes this morning in the same way. She had seen it many times before over many years. Loner was always predictable and she knew what was coming. Pure naughtiness!
Putting the thought of Loner to the back of her mind, Ellie decided to trip on down to the kitchen and make coffee so that she could enjoy a few more minutes with her thoughts of last night’s dream, as she sat on the balcony after her shower.
At least, that is what she planned in her mind!
With coffee made and piping hot in Ellie’s Love Cup, given to her as a gift by a local artist, who was considered a pure “fruitcake and nutcase” by many and had a shop in the village which was named “Sun Seller”, she rushed up the stairs, realising that the shower was still on and waiting for her, patiently to get in.
The rainbow was still radiating across the shower room as she got in and remained throughout her 23 minute shimmering soak. Ellie added copious amounts of soothing creams and scents as she showered and this whole experience simply added to feeling so very special again on this wonderful morning. Special, in a way that gave Ellie even more confidence to meet her Prince, whoever he might turn out to be. Ellie was hoping for the very, very best of outcomes.
Ellie’s dream kept drifting back into her mind, as she sat on the balcony in her pure white bathrobe and sipped coffee. She only glanced fleetingly at Loner, who was now jumping to gain Ellie’s attention, wagging his tail enthusiastically and sniffing the air in a way that suggested he more than liked her perfume. He seemed to like far more.
As Ellie finally decided what to wear for meeting with her Prince, later in the day, she heard a knock upon the door and she gathered her Love Cup. Her thoughts and made her way down the stairs to find out whom it might be.
Excitedly, she skated across the wonderfully polished wooden floor in the hallway to the perfectly painted blue front door and hesitated…. Whoever might it be, she thought?
After a few seconds, but what seemed like an ages to the person on the other side, she opened the door and gasped!
“What are you doing here so early in the morning Denny… and who does that goat belong to?” Ellie screeched.
Denny, whilst being an old friend, had also taken on the role of looking after Ellie’s garden and generally undertaking “handyman” jobs in the village, since he had lost his hair and eyebrows in a fire that happened at the Sun Seller artists and general “tat” shop, around 6 months before.
Ellie had taken pity on him since he had been horribly burned in the fire and could no longer “model” clothes for high profile brands of distinction. His only hope of modelling now, as he continued to explain to all of those who felt sorry for him, was to “wear sunglasses and hope that hats came back into fashion”.
Despite Denny’s early morning arrival, with a goat, Ellie decided not to let it ruin her day’s plans and invited him in, explaining that the goat must be tethered outside first. Ellie wasn’t fond of goats.
However, Ellie was curious of finding out more about the goat, as a goat had been in her dream and this seemed a huge coincidence.
After tethering the goat, Denny came in and made his way to the kitchen, knowing that Ellie would be there, sitting on her couch opposite the stove, sipping coffee. He wasn’t wrong.
Ellie sat like a princess in her elegant white bathrobe and, as usual, Denny’s gaze was fixed upon her long, tanned and toned, athletic legs, as he entered the room. She noticed that Denny was dribbling slightly from the corner of his mouth and was snorting with every step, in a manner that she had learned to accept every time he was in her company.
“So Denny”, she said…”tell me about the goat and how you came to appear at my door with it”…and with that, offered him the chance to make his own coffee from the pot and sit on the other side of the table while they chatted.
And so the story began…
