In a flash, all six of them were in the Devil's office, standing right next to the Devil himself.
Joseph cried out and stumbled back. "How-?!"
Sydney looked up in surprise, jumping to her feet. Her eyes landed on the trident. "What is going on?"
Mr. Angelo turned to her and aimed the trident right at her heart. "Step away from the Devil!" he ordered.
She blinked, looking at him in confusion. "Huh?"
"He's been using the trident to remove the sins of sinners!" Johnny explained quickly.
Sydney stared at Mr. Angelo in shock. "You... What?"
Mr. Angelo stepped towards her, the prongs of the trident now pressing against her chest. "You've caused me a lot of unneeded strife, you little bitch," he growled. "Trying to heal the man who ruins lives?! Why on earth would you want that?!"
There was a long moment of pause before Sydney's expression went from concerned to amused. "Have you really never heard of the law of magical and spiritual balance?"
Mr. Angelo blinked. "The what?"
"The law of magical and spiritual balance. You've never heard of it?"
"Are you just making things up to stall?"
Sydney shook her head, laughing. "Oh, God, if Lucifer were fully himself, he'd find you hilarious!"
"What? What's so funny?!"
The Devil looked up at Mr. Angelo, sitting up slowly before smiling faintly. "The law states that magic is a lot like sinning," he said quietly. "You can't remove natural magical abilities, therefore you can't permanently remove sins." He coughed. "You're just building up sins inside people that will burst their souls."
"What?!" Mr. Angelo cried out.
Sydney doubled over, giggling like a maniac.
The Devil chuckled. "You're a fool, Ryan." He shakily got to his feet. "Trying to purge the sins of the world. Haven't you ever read the Bible? Only Father can do that."
"Father- What on earth do you mean?!"
The Devil stared right at Mr. Angelo. "You want me to say it? Alright. GOD is the only one who can purge sins."
Mr. Angelo's grip on the trident tightened. "Y-You're lying. You have to be. Th-The trident-"
"Like I said: can only build up sins into a monstrous being." The Devil smiled faintly. "I may be dying, but I still don't lie easily to others."
Maria bit her lip and looked at her friends before stepping over to the Devil. "M-Mr. Lucifer?"
He looked up at her. "Yes?"
"C-Could... Could it be possible... to use the trident... for other things?"
The Devil tilted his head. "Other things like what?"
She fiddled with a strand of her hair. "Well... Altering physical appearances and magical abilities?"
The Devil glanced at the ground. "Mm... Yes, I believe it can."
Mr. Angelo frowned. "What are you getting at, girl?"
The other three caught on quickly. "Oh, so what you mean is it could make us normal!" Tony said with faux cheeriness.
The Devil rose an eyebrow. "Yeah..."
Johnny smiled. "I could remove my scales and be a normal human!"
