When the bell rang for lunch, Blakely didn't bother saying goodbye. Well, at least not in words. He put a hand on my shoulder, gave it a squeeze, and walked off.
I got to our table and everyone was tense. When I asked why they shrugged and said nothing.
So I pushed, threatening that I wouldn't feed for the next week if they didn't tell me. Finally, Dustin spoke up.
"Vice Principal McCarthy was found dead in his office this morning. Completely drained of blood except for the puddle on the floor. And pin-sized holes in his neck, which were slowly healing. Derek's father was asked to come to take a look at the body. He told the human police that it was done by an animal.
"Then he telepathically called your father, Dashia, and that by then, the holes were two small bumps from vampire fangs that had become scars. Your father went to the sheriff's office and confirmed that it was done by a bloodlust vampire.
"Now all vampires will be under careful watch whenever they feed. The vampires are watching to see if the killer is a rogue, or if it's one of us. So you need to feed like you do regularly, and don't submit to the urge that our vampire mother Entity was cursed with when she was banished from the sky by her father Rainok because she would not obey his wishes. So be careful." and then, the end of lunch bell, rang.
I just drove home. I didn't bother going to the rest of my classes. The house was empty. Mom and aunt Holly would be out all afternoon and dad would be working late. I decided to hang out by the pool for a while. After about an hour, I got a text from Blakely, wondering why I wasn't in class.
BLAKELY: HEY R U OK? Y WERENT U IN CLASS THIS AFTERNOON?
ME: WASN'T UP 2 IT AFTER I FOUND OUT WUT HAPPENED EARLY THIS MORNING. HOW'D U GET MY #?
B: ASHLEIH GAVE IT TO ME. WE HAV CHEM 2GETHER. AND WUT HAPPENED THIS MORNING?
ME: OH. UH. I DON'T WANT 2 TOK ABOUT IT. NOT SOMETHING I WANNA SHARE WITH EVERYBODY.
B: OH. CAN I COME OVER THEN? I NEED HELP W/ MY MATH HW. IT'S GREEK 2 ME.
ME: SORRY. I CAN'T. MY AUNTS VISITING. MAYB 2MORROW

B: OK. HOPE EVERYTHING IS OK. C U 2MORROW DASHIA.
