"Hey guys!" I call
"What's up Dashia?" my best blood-sucking vampire buddy, Ashlieh, asks.
We are vampires. In fact, all but a few at Blood River High School are vampires. We are the richest people you may ever meet. Ashlieh and I have been best friends since we were little. Ashlieh is the first daughter of Dolton Lifelight. Ironic right? Since we're all vampires. Haha. I am the first daughter of Isaac Kodasia. My very late, or should I say super early, grandfather Kodas wrote the first (and only) vampire code. And only the descendants of Kodas may look at the code and others can look at copies of the original text. While the descendants use the original continually. The Code is the only way we vampires live in peace with the mortal world.
The humans at Blood River High are all the teachers, staff, and a handful of students, and only half of the foreign exchange.
We, vampires, are very intelligent creatures and Blood River High students are always sought after by the highest rating universities in the country. You may be wondering if the myths about sunlight, garlic, and holy water are true. Well, there not. We do prefer to put oils and herbs in our bath water so we don't have itchy skin as we do bathing in pure water.
Today is the first day of my senior year at Blood River. And I can't wait to start it. As usual, I'm going to get perfect grades in every class. And I'm gonna find the vampire boy of my dreams. This is going to be the best school year ever!
"Dashia! Look out!" Ashlieh cries.
SMACK! I walk right into someone coming from my right. We both fall over and my bag spills all over the place.
"Oh no! I'm so sorry! I didn't see you coming from that direction. Are you okay?" a rich voice says. And that's when I look up and see him. The blue-eyed, blonde-haired vampire boy I've been dreaming about this last month. And by his reaction, he was wondering why I looked familiar to him too.
This is what happens to vampires my age. For a month, you only dream about him/her. And pretty soon, you finally meet them.
" Hi. I'm Blakely Cristal." he holds out his hand to pull me up. "What a funny way to meet someone."
"Ya. I'm Dashia." I grab his hand and tingles go all the way up and down my spine. "It's sure is one way to break the ice. Are you new here?"
"Na. I've lived in this area all my life. And I've been going to this school since freshman year. This is my last year at Blood River." so he's a senior. "I'm just one of those guys that keep to himself for the most part."
"Oh. Well, it's nice to meet you, Blakely. I should head to class. Why don't we hang out for lunch? I'll save you a seat at our table."
"Okay then. See you later Dashia." I waved goodbye and walked over to Ashlieh
"Hey. Are you okay? And who was that?" she asks as we go to homeroom together.
