Chapter 3

the two days passed in a blur and before I knew it I was packing the last of my things before I went to New Orleans and start somewhere new. I was excited yet nervous, what if they didn't like me there then it would be a waste of time. not dwelling on the possibilities, I zipped the last bag and turned to the door surprised to see my dad standing watching me with a sad smile. we hadn't spoken since my outburst and he obviously didn't want to leave on bad terms because a lot can happen in a year.

"sit down son, we need to talk"

I instantly obeyed my father wanting to know what he had to say before I left. he walked over the bed and sat next to me making sure to leave space between us, he didn't say anything for a while but I knew why I am his only child and I am leaving him for a whole year and I am kind of scared because I have never been on my own before.

"I'm sorry, I know I wasn't the best parent but it was hard to split my time being a good alpha, a good husband and a good dad, so many people relied on me and you should have been my top priority but I neglected you for so long and I know its a bit too late but I want to be there for you"

"Its alright dad don't apologize, you are a good father and a good alpha, I understand the pressure of having a pack it's so hard to please everyone but you did an awesome job dad so don't forget that"

my dad smiled and we stood up to give each other a hug, I am not going to see my dad for a whole year and I can't even say bye to my mother because she won't be back for another month. I decided I will Skype her as soon as possible. my dad walked me outside to the black Lamborghini that I got for my birthday a few years ago. my dad hugged me again before stepping back. I put the rest of my bags in the car before turning around to face Mickey.

"Its gonna be hard to spend a year without you mate"

" you'll be fine Mick, you have Ronny to look after you whilst I'm gone"

"yeah I guess but being an Alpha is tough shit, I don't even know where to start"

"this will be a piece of cake for you mick, you manage to have a human job, be a great beta and you get to spend time with your mate, now that you have a year off from your human job you will have extra time to do Alpha duties and still spend time with your mate so don't worry"

" I guess your right man and I will call you everyday alright"

"yeah I will always answer, you will be great"

I gave Mickey a quick hug before saying goodbye to my father again, I got into my car began the long drive to New Orleans, I stopped along the way to get extra gas and buy some snacks for the journey. after a 6 hour drive I finally arrived, I parked my car in the parking lot for apartment owners. I got out and stretched my sore muscles which screamed in relief.

I took my bags and made my way to the third floor, the apartment had two bedrooms both dark blue color with brown cupboards and wardrobes, on the wall facing the bed sat plasma screen televisions that I knew I wouldn't use, both rooms had king-sized beds with blue beddings. Attached to each room were bathrooms that were periwinkle blue, the living room was fairly big with black and white walls, a black leather couch sat in the middle of the room with a plasma TV sitting on a cabinet. Behind the couch was a glass dining table matched with four glass chairs. a chandelier hung from the ceiling, on the left was a small kitchen painted grey making the house look like a bachelor pad, this must have cost my father tons of money. I owe my dad big time, he must have gotten someone to come and decorate the place and in just two days.

I went into the bedroom furthest away from the living room and unpacked all of my bags, I walked to the fridge and was surprised to see all of the cupboards, fridge, and freezer stocked with food. grabbing some fruit I walk towards the door wanting to explore the famous town. I walked through the town that was full of tourists that also wanted to explore the town. Jazz music flowed through the air and I could smell different exotic smells that drove my senses mad. There were stalls lined all the way down the street, people were selling all kinds of things ranging from food to jewelry, my head swiveled side to side trying to take in everything around me, it was amazing.
