⭐️Chapter 31: Heise

Flip and Heise glared at eachother. The two had picked separate rocks to stand on and were now at a standstill. Flip had to think about making a first move. She had to be first in order to get an advantage, though when she thought about it, hanging back would let her see what Heise could do...What was the hookroll's set again? Autobombs and...what was it, Wild swings? Would Heise even let her ink for a special?

Flip threw an autobomb out, away from the battle. It covered some turf. Heise saw this and began to ink turf as well, vertical flicking all over the place. Flip followed, wondering why Heise hadn't used her sub weapon yet. Maybe it was a non-offensive one? Like a splash wall or toxic mist? Well, nonetheless, the two finished in no time.

Gloves meanwhile, was sitting on a rock, far away from the battle. He remembered Seira saying something about the Talon roll having more precise a range, like dualie squelchers to regular dualies. He wondered how that worked in the world of rollers, since rollers were usually broad but short range weapons. He watched with interest, taking mental notes in case Flip lost and he had to take over. But all the two were doing now we're staring...

Flip needed a plan, fast. She tried to see if she could throw an autobomb onto the opposing rock. She missed, and instead the bomb landed nearby the rock. It exploded, and inked the rock. Flip suddenly got an idea. She sunk into her ink and slowly began to make her way over to the other rock. She moved slow as to not make ripples.

Heise saw Flip disappear, and scanned the place for anything moving. Dang, where'd that pest go?! That other inkling, Gloves, was sitting further away from them. He told them he wouldn't interfere with the match, so this couldn't have to do with him. Heise readied her talon hookroll in case she saw Flip. She scanned the grass once more and suddenly realized that Flip's ink reached over to her rock. She got an idea of what Flip was trying to do.

"COME ON OUT! I KNOW YOU'RE HIDING!" She yelled.

She then threw her sub weapon in front of her rock.

A sprinkler.

Flip, who was right by the wall of the rock, watched in horror as the sprinkler covered up her way back. Some of the ink was hitting her too. Heise, sensing Flip could be near her, slammed her hookroll onto the rock she was on. Great, now Flip was trapped between a rock and a hard place, literally. Maybe she could wait for the sprinkler to run-no. She didn't have time.

If the sprinkler continued any more, she'd be splatted. But if she moved, she could also be splatted by the roller. Quickly, she threw an autobomb and sunk back into her ink. The autobomb didn't sense Heise since she was too high up, and exploded, destroying the sprinkler. Flip breathed a sigh of relief, and quickly inked some alternate paths. Heise cursed under her breath, and turned around, expecting Flip to show up with the paths she had made.

Flip went back to the path inked by the rock and got ready, as her special was charged from inking the alternate paths. Slowly, she made it to the top of the rock, but made a small "plip" sound as she landed. She realized this meant she couldn't hide and sprung up, raising her hookroll into the air. She swung down. It was met with Heise's talon hookroll, creating a "clang" noise, as if it were two swords hitting eachother. Flip's jaw dropped when she saw Heise had her special charged too.

What was it? A close range attack, like splashdown? A ranged attack, like ink storm or tenta missiles? Well, if the talon hookroll was all about precision, then maybe...
But she didn't have time to finish her thoughts. Heise released her weapon, causing Flip to nearly fall forward. Flip caught herself and regained her position. This time Heise was using the hookroll as more of a scythe, and took a swing. Flip countered it with her hookroll, but she didn't know how to use scythes, so she kept using her hookroll as if it was a standard roller. She then realized she might HAVE to use it like a scythe in order to use her special.
