Undyne's POV
I knew Sans wouldn't be very happy with me for telling Frisk about some things, but I figured she had to know. Sans couldn't keep hiding everything from her all the time. He hadn't told Frisk much at all, to be honest. She hadn't known anything about human souls at all, and that concerned me.
When Frisk walked out of my house, she looked lost in thought, then determined. I got the bad feeling that she was planning what I was thinking, and I knew then why Sans had told me not to tell her those things, why we should wait for the next human, a bad human.
I walked out of my house and headed to Alphys's lab. Hopefully she would be able to help come up with something better than that. Maybe, like, a machine powerful enough to break the barrier. None of that sappy friendship stuff, though. That was for weak punks. But I couldn't help but think that human souls were the only thing that could break the barrier.
I just hoped Sans could forgive me.
Frisk's POV
What Undyne had said to me was still spinning in my head. She had called me over to her house for one thing and one thing only: to explain what Sans wouldn't. What he'd been hiding from me all these years.
Undyne explained a lot. She started with the war on the surface between humans and monsters, ending with the monsters getting trapped in the Underground. A powerful wizard created a barrier to keep them all down. As for the hole at the top of Mt. Ebott, humans could still fall down, but monsters couldn't fly out. The hole was too deep.
Then she went on to the first human to fall into the Underground, explaining their soul and then going on to the other humans after that one. Undyne explained how, with the right amount of human souls, monsters could return to the surface once again. And when she mentioned only one more human soul was needed to break the barrier, a sudden thought popped into my mind.
What if I freed all the monsters from the Underground?
Undyne had said only one more soul was needed to break the barrier. Maybe... maybe if I went and gave my soul to King Asgore, all the monsters could be free!
Sure, that would mean losing my life, but if it's my life for thousands of other lives, I was willing to make the sacrifice.
Sans POV
I flew to waterfall in search of Frisk, deciding to check Undyne's house. I hummed a catchy tune, which seemed oddly familiar, but I couldn't seem to remember where I'd heard it. As I looked around, I thought up some puns to bother Papyrus later.
I came to a stop in front of Undyne's door and knocked. I stopped humming to listen, and then I knocked again. I waited a little while longer.
*But no one was home.
Odd, Undyne was usually home, or sparring with Papyrus somewhere in Waterfall. But Papyrus was at home, so he couldn't be training with Undyne. But she wasn't home, so where could she be? Alphys's lab? No, Alphys was busy binge-watching some anime series. Unless Undyne decided to join her. I won't bother them for now.
Grillby might know where Frisk is, though. I should check with him.
