The Apple of my Eye (Ryuk x Reader) {DEATH NOTE ANIME}

Chapter 3: Fairest of them all

I slowly opened my eyes, the bright sun slightly streaming through my blinds. I let out a loud yawn as I slowly sat up, swinging my legs over my (f/c) comforter, my bare feet gently hitting the cold hard wood. I looked around to see if Ryuk was still in my room, but it would seem that he had left. I stretched my arms up, remembering that I had the house to myself today. My dad was working, Light was at a cafe studying for exams, Sayu was at a friend's house and my mom was at her weekly book club. I stood up, walking over to my closet to get some clothes for the day. I pulled out a light blue pleated skirt and white cinched top and slipped them on. I walked towards my vanity to do my makeup and put on some jewelry. I picked up my brush and started applying a glittery gold shadow on my eyelids, followed by an eyeliner wing so sharp it could kill a man. I coated my long lashed with mascara and topped the look off with some clear gloss on my plump lips. Before heading downstairs I laced up my white combat boots and took one last glance in the mirror. 

I walked into the kitchen, trying to figure out something to do. I then spotted the basket of apples that was overflowing with the juicy fruit, and decided to make an apple pie. Ryuk will love this. I thought to myself as I began to get all of the ingredients out. I had just started washing the apples in the sink when I heard someone licking their lips. "What are you planning to do with all those apples?" Ryuk asked, drooling as he looked at the glistening fruit. I giggled, tossing him one. "I'm making an apple pie! You're more than welcome to help, as long as you don't eat too many." I said, passing him some apples and an apple peeler. "Peel these for me, will you?" I asked with a bat of my eyelashes. He nodded, sitting on the counter while peeling his favorite food. I went back to making the dough when something occurred to me. "Hey, why aren't you with Light?" I asked, mixing the wet ingredients into the dry ones. He shrugged, tossing the last peeled apple into a bowl and stood up. "It was so boring. He was just sitting in a cafe studying. I figured you'd be more interesting." He said nonchalantly. "What if I was just sitting and studying too, hmm?" I asked as I started slicing up the apples. "At least I'd have a better view." The Shinigami said with a wink and subtle smirk. My face turned the color of the apples i was cutting and i avoided his deadly eyes. I finished up the pie and threw it into the oven to bake. "Shoot!" I said, smacking myself on the forehead. "I need vanilla ice cream." I said while grabbing my wallet and heading out the door. "I'll be right back!" I yelled to Ryuk as I shut and locked the front door. 

Ryuk POV

I watched (y/n) and she ran though the door and let out a sigh once I heard the lock click. Strangely enough, I enjoyed her company quite a lot. I floated into her room to do some snooping and came across a picture of her and the rest of the Yagami family when she was probably about 10 years old. They were all standing on a beach smiling, but she was jumping, the picture caught her midair and the rest of her family remained grounded. I smirked at her wild child demeanor and kept looking over the pictures. There was one of her dressed up as Sherlock Holmes, and I realized that she must want to be a detective. She was a brilliant girl who had some incredible abilities, so I had no doubts that she could make it happen. A kept looking at the photos she kept in her room until i heard the lock click once more and raced downstairs, so she wouldn't know that I was snooping. 

(y/n) POV 

"Ryuk, I'm back!" I called as I walked in the door, placing my keys and wallet on the table in the entryway. He was sitting on the counter munching on an apple as I placed the ice cream in the freezer. "Good. Things were starting to get boring again." Ryuk said while following me to the oven. "It's done!" I exclaimed while taking it out of the oven. Ryuk sniffed the aroma of the fresh baked apple pie and began to drool again. I grabbed a towel and quickly wiped it all away before any could get on the pie. He took my wrist in his hand and moved it so it placed the towel down. "You know, apples aren't the only thing that make me drool..." he said. I walked away, grabbing two plates, forks and a sharp knife. "Pie does too apparently!" I exclaimed, dodging his yellow and red eyes. I sliced the pie and scooped some ice cream on, handing it to Ryuk. He took a bite and looked like he had eaten something from another planet. "This... is... INCREDIBLE!" He exclaimed, scarfing the rest of his slice down like a wild animal. I smiled at his enthusiasm and gave my piece to him. "Here. I'm not that hungry and there's plenty more." He took it from me with a smile and said "You know, I'm glad I came to the human realm, because I like you a lot (y/n) Yagami."
