It honestly wasn't hard juggling it all.
I went to camp a few times, got a job at this very homey coffee shop, even helped out the resident vigilante.
Even Chiron wasn't fussing over my so called busy life.
It didn't even seem busy, I was just... bored.
Weird thought for a demigod who has been hunted most of her life, but I was bored.
I haven't seen Nico in awhile. Death Breath is probably off somewhere with his father running here, there, and literally everywhere.
Now me, I had a set schedule for everything. Very unlike me. I'm usually an on the seed of my pants type person.
I don't really know if I like my set schedule of knowing everything that's gonna happen.I always wake up six am on week days.
I always go to work at seven on week days.
I always get off at five pm on week days.
I always take a walk on week days.
I always do this and that on week days.
But here's where it gets interesting...The week ends.
You heard me right, a real shocker.
What could Percy Jackson be doing on the weekends that's so exciting?
Well.
I do what I always do. I try my best to help out.
I'm not talking about killing a random monster here and there.
I actually help out.
I've even got a name for myself for the public.
Ember.
Weird superhero name am I right?
Especially for someone with freaking water powers.
It was one of my first missions I had decided to go on.
Let's face it, it wasn't even a mission. I didn't know what I was doing, and decided to make a change for good.
I put myself in a black shirt, athletic leggings, and a leather jacket with trident emblems.
I remember the feeling of lacing my combat boots, knowing I would help someone.
I opened the window of the small apartment I rented for the time being.
I could feel the cool, but crisp air blow through my hair.
I even remember the slight odor the air had. Almost like the stink of a rubber factory.
I jumped down onto the fire escape closest to my window.
I start climbing up to the roof, wind rushing, adrenaline flowing.
I made it to the top of the apartment building...
I'm actually going to do it. I'm going to do something good.
Then I did it...
I ran, and I jumped.
I jumped to one building, then the next, then the next...
I just couldn't stop.
Imagine the air pushing you one way, but you power through. Imagine the rush of adrenaline you get from accomplishment of making it to the ledge of one building.
Imagine sprinting off the edge and make it to the ledge of the next building, the only the that is holding you up to the rotting cement is your very own finger tips. Hoisting yourself up onto the building without any ones help.
I love it.
Then I saw it.
An actual emergency.
Smoke... lots and lots of... smoke.
That's when I felt the matter of urgency.
Wherever smoke is, there tends to be fire.
I knew I could help people with fire. It is like my polar opposite, fire and water.
I made it to the burning building and went straight inside.
I tried to get as many people out as I could.
I was doing a final sweep when I heard a choking sound.
I went into a small room, the entry was blocked, but I got through it.
A little girl was there, she looked barely eight.
She was frightened not only of the fire, but of me.
I made my way to her, but she sunk her way to the little corner she was hiding in with her stuffed teddy bear.
Gods, I recall she was shaking poor girl.
I put my hands up in front of my chest and eased myself into the corner, holding her close.
I picked her up, she whimpered slightly.
As soon as she got outside, she started bawling her eyes out.
Not in a bad way like I had originally thought, but in a good way, in a way of joy.
She looked at me. She was still cradled in my arms when she licked her little finger tips and put them to a piece of my hair.
I looked at her with an expression of confusion.
She said a few words to me, "You had an ember in your hair." She then gave me a wide grin.
Someone ran over to us and immediately took the smiling girl out of my hands; it was her mother.
I walked away into a shadow created by one of the many looming buildings when I heard a news reporter ask the little girl how she got out.
The little girl responded with, "Ember! Ember saved me!"
What do you think?
Did you expect that to be her hero name?
Did you expect me to upload this soon?
How did you like her bit of backstory I did?
What do you think will happen next?
Well this was fun in all, but I'm tired and I'm gonna go to sleep.
Peace and love (Ringo Starr)
