*FlashBack*

"Alyssa. I'm hungry." a little voice stated from outside my bedroom.

"Cassidy, I just got back from school!" I told her through the door.

"Ted is hungry too. Auntie didn't feed us." She whispered through the door. With that, I shot up and opened the door.

"Why didn't she feed you?" I said, full of anger. My aunt was a 36 year old whom smoked a lot around my siblings. She moved in about 3 years ago, when my sister Cassidy was 4 and my brother Ted was 2. My mother urged her to stop smoking, and she said she would, but her lies were so menacing. She would beat us when my mother was at work and not feed us because she was too busy feeding herself or doing drugs. So now I have to stay up late doing school work and feed everyone before my mom gets home. We promised my aunt we wouldn't tell my mom, because if we did, all she'd do is beat us more.

"I'll get you some food." I told her, as I grabbed my keys and a mask. Oh what am I doing.

*End of FlashBack*

"Lyss..." a hand waved in front of me. I must've dozed off while Luke was talking to me. Over the years, I've gotten to know Luke and Stella very well. The guards even let us hang out in our cells since we don't do anything wrong, but the doors don't close, obviously. I snap out of my thoughts and stare at Luke.

"Yea?" I ask him.

"Ha, you zoned out for a bit." Luke informed me.

"Oh yea. What were you saying?" I asked him, feeling bad that I wasn't listening.

"Nothing...just rambling." He laughed. It felt great to hear a laugh. I tried laughing myself in my cell, but it only made me sad because I wasn't really happy.

"Wanna walk around the courtyard?" I asked. "I haven't been there yet." I added.

"Sure, same here." He told me, and we got up and I nudged Stella on her shoulder.

"Oh ya what?" She stammered.

"We're gonna walk the courtyard. Come with us, because I don't want you hear alone." I stated.

"Okay no problem." She said, as she got up and walked with us toward the courtyard. We walked around, kind of exploring what we've already explored in this prison. I don't know why. Luke said he 'wanted to visually map out the place' so I had to agree, I was sort of curious. We walked around for a long while, mainly the gated areas, again and again, for some odd reason, and soon enough Stella was going on and on about how tired she was. With that, we headed back into the building. We sat down at the cafeteria table in a comfortable silence, just gazing around at the groups of people. Then, a announcement went off and informed us that we had to be in our cells in 15 minutes, or we will be punished. We all got into the huge line of prisoners, and we're soon locked in our cells. That night, thoughts raced through my mind. Why did Luke want to get a visual of the prison gates. He is Luke. Or is he. Shut up Lyss.

*FlashBack*

"Lyss! Get up." A woman shouted from another room. I stared at my phone for a minute and looked up.

"I need to watch the kids today auntie. I can't go to school. Where's mom?" I asked.

"I wasn't going to bring you to school anyways." She laughed. "And your mom had to go to work early, so I don't care what you do." She yelled through the door.

"okay...." I mumbled, as I tried to finish my Language Arts homework.

*CRASH*

I looked up from my essay, and dodged out of my bedroom. I heard a faint cry from downstairs.

"What the hell is going on?" I shrieked. I slipped down next to my sister crying my a low cabinet.

"Hey, what happened? Are you okay..." I asked in the deep silence.

"No..." She said as she showed me the tiny scar on her palm. I made a small chuckle.

"Really Cassidy?" I said sarcastically. Then I heard loud thumps coming down the stairs and muffled curses.

"What is going on!!!!" My aunt shouted.

*End Of FlashBack*

I woke up in another cold sweat, and stared at my clock. 6:03am. Ugh. I have to wait another hour. I did the usual, which became my boring routine, reading the prison books.

Finally, the door slid open, screeching against the floor. I quickly walked into the line, and again, into the cafeteria. I looked around and spotted Luke sitting at an open table.

"Hey." I said, waving. Luke didn't face me.

"Luke." I stated louder. He didn't shift a muscle.

"Luke!" I said loudly. He looked at me, and his face seemed as if it was staring into my soul.

"We're breaking out." he whispered, and I gulped, sucking in a huge breath.

"Okay..." I whispered, nodding and sitting down next to him.
