Annabeth POV
My phone was ringing.
I thought it was Percy and didn't pick up. Me and the girls where chilling today and visited a beach that had lots of turtles laying eggs on the sand.
RIIIING
That was the fourth time in the last ten minutes. I was starting to get annoyed.
I picked up.
"Why are you calling idiot?" I spat. V it wasn't Percy. It was Jason. I softened at his voice.
"Annie, Thalia...shes been shot. Cone quick. LA hospital." Jason urged through the phone. Fear was laced in his voice.
He hung up. Thalia. She's been...shot?! Is she okay? Is she dying? Is she already dead? Why would anyone do this to her?
Poor, poor Thalia. She's one of my best friends. I would die for her.
A thousand times. Tears spill into my eyes as I drop to the floor sobbing hysterically.
Why of all people? She was a good person. But I reminded my self.
She's not dead. Not yet
Piper ran over to me, obviously now knowing the situation. Hazel looked unnaturally pale.
I croaked one single word.
"Thalia."
The car ride was only twenty minutes but it felt like days on end. Thalia was the one who kept me whole when I ran away, from slipping into danger and horrible things. She kept me from Luke's wrath when he got angry.
For some reason I know he has something to do with it.
I just know it.
We rush right into the hospital and the nurse doesn't have to point or say anything.
Jason is pacing in the lobby, his usually neat hair disheveled and his blue eyes swimming with tears, big fat ugly tears on his bright red face.
"Jason." My voice is urgent and tight. He looks at me worrisome.
"She's in surgery, the bullet was.....three inches from her heart.....the chance of her making it are slim to none, even with the best doctors Dad ordered." Jason sits on a shitty chair, his head in his hands.
"She's strong, she has to make it...just has to."
Ten hours of surgery. Damn Thalia. We waited and waited in anguish. Security Guards of Zeus's arrived shortly before the operation was over. She was in comatose as of right now, breathing in one of the big heavy masks.
They said even if she lived....she would have heart complications for years.
She would die young.
Percy, Frank, and Leo arrived with food and extra clothing for us...since we were staying the night at the hotel across the street.
"How you doing" Percy was comforting Jason. I glared at him. He may be her cousin and his cousin but he didn't know her for half his life.
She didn't almost die with her.
At one point Hazel was asleep in Frank and Leo's lap, sprawled against their legs and chests. Piper had left to go and check-in for the room. Jason, who couldn't keep his eyes off the clock was the color of a tomato, his eyes bloodshot and puffy.
Percy was staring at the floor, unmoving nor speaking.
It was eleven at night.
Still in surgery.
