Will's P.O.V
The bright lights of the infirmary were a stark contrast to the growing darkness outside, resulting in temporary blindness as my eyes adjusted. Blinking, I stepped forward and heard a loud crash. As I regained my sight, I gasped. I had knocked over the cart of medical bandages that I had spent most of the afternoon sorting. I knelt down to start cleaning them up, and just as I reached for the first bandage, my hand came in contact with something much colder. I recoiled my hand quickly upon realizing what's hand had come into contact with. I felt a blush rise to my cheeks and after glancing at Nico, realized that I wasn't the only one. Unlike me, he hadn't moved his hand, it was still hovering over one of the bandages.
"Sorry, I was just trying to help." Nico mumbled, finally bringing his hand down to the bandage.
"It okay. I wasn't really paying attention either." I released a small chuckle. I watched as Nico picked up the bandage and fold it into a messy pile. I cringed a little at the sight.
"What? Am I doing it wrong?" Nico asked innocently.
"Well, it's just that it fits better in the cart if you fold it differently." I tried not to sound ungrateful.
"Oh."
"How about you pass me the bandages, and I'll fold them?" I suggested with a smile.
Nico raised his gaze to meet mine before replying. "Sounds like a plan."
Nico passed me the bandage he had attempted to fold with a small smile, which I quickly refolded with crisp corners. I sighed at the sight of such a perfect folding job I had done.
"Will?" Nico questioned, as he passed me another bandage.
I began to fold it immediately. "Yeah?"
"Are you sure you're not OCD?" Nico chuckled, gesturing to the two perfectly folded bandages sitting beside me.
"There's nothing wrong with striving for perfection." I rolled my eyes as he passed me another bandage.
"But what will you do when things don't go perfectly?" Nico asked, seeming really interested in my answer.
I cleared my throat. "I guess I'll have to just try to work with what I get."
"That's reasonable, I guess." Nico replied as he handed the last bandage. I quickly folded it and started packing the rest of the bandages back on the cart. When every single bandage was back in its place, I rose to my feet, extending a hand to help Nico get up. He tentatively slipped his hand in mine and allowed me to help him up.
"Thanks."
"No problem." I replied, before walking towards Nico's bed. I glanced back to see Nico still standing there with a smile on his face.
"You coming?" I asked, with a smirk on my face.
"Huh? Oh, yeah." Nico replied, a little distractedly, before rushing to my side. The walk to his bed was short, and after making sure Nico was settled in, I sat down on the plastic chair that was set beside his bed precisely at a 45 degree angle. I watched out of the corner of my eye as Nico began to fiddle with his silver ring. His eyes seemed to be looking strait through the wall at another moment in time, so I let him have his privacy, closing my eyes and leaning my head back against the wall. Lately I had been staying up pretty late trying to heal the campers who had been injured in the war, and the lack of sleep was getting to me. Just as I felt myself about to drift off, I heard a small giggle. My eyes opened at speeds that could compete with my dad's flying chariot. It was only Nico. I smiled at the happy sight in front of me. It was rare for the son of Hades to show signs of happiness, so I relished in the opportunity. That is, until he spoke.
