Will's P.O.VBrett and I entered the pavilion together, which earned us quite a collection of odd glances. As if by habit, my eyes began to scan the room for a certain son of Hades. First, I looked at his table, but it was empty, like it had been for a few days. My eyes continued to search for him as my body took me to my table, which is finally where I found him. He had his back to me, locked in conversation with my sister, Grace. I felt myself smile when I saw the excessive use of hand gestures used by the dark haired boy. If Nico was that passionate about something, it must mean he's in a good mood.
I let Brett take the seat across from Nico, before sitting down beside him, in the seat across from Grace. "Hey." I tried to start a conversation with the pair across from us, but my attempt failed.
Brett cleared his throat and took a shot at conversation. "Hey, Will and I were just wondering if you two were busy after lunch?"
Grace raised her eyebrow once she noticed that I was sitting beside Brett, and wasn't wearing a scowl. "You and Will were wondering? Since when have you two done anything together?"
Brett looked to me, silently willing me to answer. "Well, we are brothers even if we don't act like it sometimes." I let my eyes meet Nico's for the first time since our fight, and I felt my guilt rise up in me again. "So, are you two busy after lunch?"
"I'm free," she glanced at Nico, "how about you?"
Nico nodded. "Yeah, I've got nothing to do now that my cabin is set up."
"Perfect!" Brett exclaimed before trying to seem indifferent. "I mean, that's great. What do you guys want to do?"
Grace raised her eyebrow again. "You mean you didn't even have a plan in mind before asking us?" She laughed. "It's a good thing Ghostie here is smart, I'm sure he'll think of something."
"Ghostie?" I smirked at Nico's obvious blush.
Nico tried to look embarrassed, but I think he was secretly pleased with himself for getting close enough to someone to earn a nick name. "She came up with it, I had nothing to do with it."
A round of laughter filled our part of the table, and carried on throughout the majority of lunch. By the time we'd finally finished eating, most of the other campers had already left. Throughout lunch, I'd had time to silently look over Nico to gauge how he was really feeling about me. He hadn't seemed mad at me when we were talking, but I knew how he could hold a grudge.
"So, what are we going to do?" Nico asked as we left the pavilion. Grace and Brett were walking side-by-side just ahead of us, but Nico had only asked loudly enough for me to hear. For a second, I thought he was asking about our plans for the afternoon, but after searching his face, I saw the serious look and knew that he was talking about us. He wanted to know where we should go from here.
"Are you mad at me?" I knew it was blunt, but sometimes blunt was needed.
Nico shook his head. "I was never mad at you. I was mad at myself for pushing you that far, when you clearly weren't comfortable with it." Nico suddenly grabbed my hand. "I'm sorry for being a bad friend."
"You're sorry? I'm the one who should be apologizing. I shouldn't have blown up at you like that." I rubbed my thumb over his hand.
Nico stopped walking. "Are we really doing that cliche thing where each person feels it's their fault and they avoid each other thinking that the other person is mad at them? Are we really that cliche?"
"I guess we did, but if you'd like to stop being cliche, I'd go along with you."
Nico grinned from ear to ear. "You're like a walking romance novel: you're beautiful, you have your little quirks, and you always leave me smiling like an idiot."
I took a step closer. "So, what you're trying to say..."
"I like you, you oblivious idiot. I've liked you since the day I brought back the Athena Parthenos. You've got this heart of gold, a spark of kindness that you've carried for years, that nobody ever got close enough to discover." Nico slipped his hand out of mine to snake it behind my head. "I've spent so much of my life hiding from my feelings, but I'm done hiding." And with that he kissed me, letting his lips speak of all the things he'd never told me. They spoke of his grief, the aching hole that his sister left. They spoke of his fear, the shaking hands of a boy who had nowhere to go. They spoke of his love, the raw emotions that erupted out of him like lava. But most importantly, they spoke of his courage, the determination to keep pushing through everything and not give in to his demons.
The kiss was over quickly, but the messages were still swirling around my brain a full minute afterwards. I probably would have continued dissecting the words from Nico's lips, if I hadn't been suddenly dragged forward. I snapped back into focus as a laugh of pure joy left Nico's lips. We were sprinting down the path together with our hands intertwined when I finally understood the meaning of happiness. Happiness didn't come from the big monumental moments in your life, it came from the little moments. Happiness was about finding joy in everyday situations. Happiness was seeing Nico without a trace of pain in his eyes as we ran to catch up to our friends.

So, that was possibly the hardest chapter to write in the history of fanfictions. The contents weren't that difficult to write, it was just the worry that I was going to overdo it, or make it seem rushed. >.< I hope it came across alright...
They finally kissed! ASDJKL I've waited for this moment for so long!
Anyways, thank you guys for over 65k reads! It makes my day whenever I get another read or vote. Of course, comments always bring a smile to my face too. :)
This fanfic is coming to a close soon, but the exact number of chapters left hasn't been decided yet. :( I love writing, but I can't drag a story on too long. But never fear, I'm going to be starting another fanfic after this one. I haven't decided the ship yet, but if you have a suggestion, just leave a comment and I'll take it into consideration. :)
I just saw Jurassic World, so if you've seen it and have any thoughts on it, leave a comment and we can chat. :)
Question: if you could go back in time to relive a single day, what day would you choose and why?
Bonus question: describe yourself in one word. (Not exactly a question, but I thought it'd be cool.)
Thanks for reading, remember to smile and spread love like butter! -Tianne :)
