Ikebashi sighed for the millionth time, it was pretty obvious he was tired of picking weeds and it was pretty annoying to Kassi.
"Ikebashi, please stop sighing. None of us are happy the job but we aren't being as dramatic as you." Kassi said with an innocent voice, both Amika and Kimo chuckled but Ikebashi glared at her making the smaller girl give him a fake pout but he just went back to pulling weeds and she decided to leave him alone and do the same since it was technically their mission. (No matter how boring it was)
--------This time team 14 was taking a group of younger kids to the park to watch over while the teacher took her break. Kimo and Amika seemed to be perfectly fine, and only Ikebashi and Kassi had any objections. And although Ikebashi didn't see helping kids as a real mission and he wanted to do something else, he wasn't anywhere near as upset as Kassi. Adults around them would compliment the kids or give out treats to them and also include her as if she was their age.
After it happened a few times Ikebashi realized that he could tease her about it. "Hey you know-" he stopped talking when Amika grabbed his hand and shook her head making him look back at Kassi who was giving him a dark glare. He gulped to himself and waved his hands "Nevermind." Even though he wanted to annoy her, he didn't wanna die doing it.
"That's what I thought."
——————"Another successful mission completed by team 14," Kimo said proudly while placing his hand on his (obviously) favorite student's shoulder. When Kassi looked at him he just smiled, which in turn made her fake smile back at him. All of team 14 was pretty sure by now that he had a small (or not so small) favoritism towards her, and it was starting to annoy them, especially Kassi, but she didn't wanna go off on him because he was still her sensei. She could hear Ikebashi fake gagging beside her making her subtly roll her eyes. Then quickly Amika had pulled her hand, (that she was already holding) and basically pulled her sister into her arms.
"Oh, sorry Kassi, I didn't think you would fall like that." She had an apologetic face but her eyes gave away how all too pleased she actually was. She couldn't help but giggle at her older sister's obvious jealousy and Kimo's pout was amusing to her too. After a few seconds, the smaller girl slowly pulled away to look at the Hokage and Iruka, the first looked amused while the ladder looked horrified.
"Anyway for your next mission-"
"Hokage can you please give us a real mission, like exciting and stuff? We wanna really prove ourselves, it's not fair to just make us go around and do-" Ikebashi was complaining until Kimo hit him in the back of the head making them start to glare at each other. The Hokage was watching with widening and slightly surprised eyes, while Iruka looked much more irate.
"You-!"
"Iruka, we've already been through this once today, let's not go through it again." When the Hokage said that, you all shared confused looks, wondering who else would've asked for a better mission.
"Yes, of course not," Iruka said with a small nod.
"Now team 14 has a completely clean and perfect record, but those are all D-ranked Missions, you guys are going to go on a simple C-ranked mission. You are to transport an artifact, which is to be given to you by a mister Kaleku. It's private what you're transporting so don't even ask. It's in the box, which mister Kaleku will be carrying, and you are all to make sure he gets to his village safely with the artifact." The Hokage spoke and then a man walked into the room, from what was being explained they all assumed it was the client.
"This is mister Kaleku, and the box he's holding is the artifact."
"Uh, hey kids?" The man had a friendly smile but he looked down at them with an obviously confused expression. Immediately Ikebashi has an attitude. "We're ninja, not just kids you know, so don't talk down to your protectors!" He all but yelled, and almost instantaneously 3 hands hit him in the head, the 3 adults in the room all sweatdropped at the reaction.
"I'm sorry for him, he gets a little rowdy sometimes," Kimo spoke quickly but the client waved him off.
"No, it's my bad for insulting such a proud ninja." The man could very obviously read Ikebashi like a book because the boy beamed and walked over to him, "It's nice to get some recognition, I'd be glad to protect you on your way back to your village!"
"If that was a trap, you'd be way over dead by now." Kassi laughed out and their other 2 team members sighed as they knew this would lead to a fight. Though Kimo held up a hand to stop Ikebashi's response before looking back at Kaleku.
"When will we be starting this mission?" He asked and the older man nodded at the question with a smile.
"As soon as you can, I don't mind the wait." He waved his hand again and Kassi could feel herself getting annoyed. 'I can't tell if he's a suck-up or a pushover right now.' She thought to herself, and almost as if she read her mind, Amika nudged her side and gave her a look making her pout.
"Good, we should be ready in less than an hour," Kimo spoke and then looked back at the Hokage who nodded in approval. That seemed to be their queue to go.
Once they were outside of the building Amika quickly pulled Kassi's arm, almost as if the girl wasn't going to follow her anyway.
"Girls you need to meet back here before the hour is up. And don't forget to eat, I don't know when we'll make the first pitstop. And also-" He was cut off by Kassi, "It's fine Kimo-sensei, we'll be back on time and well prepared."
She wasn't sure if he was gonna say anything else important but she didn't really care, so right after saying that she started to walk off, and since Amika had a grip on her arm she was following behind her little sister.
——"It's our first real mission Kassi, can you believe it!" Amika was practically beaming and it didn't fail to bring a small smile out of the shorter girl.
"Yeah, I guess it's pretty cool." She said while looking down at her bowl of soup that Amika had just finished making a few minutes ago.
"Hey, what's wrong." The taller girl asked almost instantly, her sister senses telling her that her little sister was upset.
"Noth-" Right as she tried to respond Amika smushed her cheeks in her hands making her stop talking.
"Don't say nothing because I wouldn't have asked if I didn't think you were upset, now what's wrong?" She asked again and let go of her face. This time Kassi looked away and sighed, sometimes she wished that Amika didn't know her so well.
"It's our first time going outside the village... I'm not scared or anything, but me and you always spend the night together under our tree and talk... privately about our day. We can't do that on the mission." She bit her lip to refrain from also adding the fact that Ikebashi would be all over her and she probably wouldn't get her big sister to herself for the whole mission.
"Awe, Kass, you don't have to worry about that, because we'll be together the whole time, so even if something happens we can whisper about it right next to each other and the boys won't even hear." Amika sounded proud of herself as if she just solved the greatest problem ever and the short girl couldn't help but giggle.
"You're right."
"Of course I am, now eat!"
———-"Okay you guys, are you all ready?" Kimo asked his team and glanced at the client, everyone gave a nod in response making him nod as well before they all finally walked out of the leaf village on their way to complete their first C-ranked mission.
