"Kassi, you came home late last night and immediately went to sleep, how was your mission?" The short girl looked up from her letter only to come face to face with a very familiar clan elder. She quickly plastered a smile on her face and flipped the letter over hoping that she didn't see it.
"It was a success Lady Chika, as expected." She quickly spoke as the woman started to circle her before standing right in her face.
"Who're you writing to?" She asked simply, and Kassi knew better than to lie to her clan elder and sighed.
"Just a letter for my mom." She mumbled and then she let out a squeal when she narrowly avoided her hands getting struck by the cane. She looked up at the woman who would sometimes 'take care' of her. Lady Chika was the main person who trained her in the clan, and she was never afraid to punish her for almost any mistake.
"That woman is not worth the time, if you have time to sit and write to her then you have time to train, now get up and go to the training hall." She then slammed the cane on the table again and Kassi basically scrambled and rushed to the training hall. Her cheeks burned red in embarrassment at how easily she submitted to whatever her clan wanted. She never got the chance to do what she liked, that's why she spent as much time out of the clan house that she could, but with her mom still being in the hospital, she actually lived in the clan house.
Once reaching the hall she immediately sat on the floor and waited for Lady Chika to enter, and when she did, another familiar figure entered behind her. "Jun-sensei."
Jun actually wasn't a teacher, he was only 2 years older than Kassi herself but he was actually Lady Chika's grandson and he was a very skilled ninja. He would've been considered the clan's prodigy if only he could grasp the clans Kekkei Genkai. It's been a challenge for him since he was small, and when Lady Chika realized he couldn't use it, she trained him to be the best in almost anything else he could do.
Seeing him could only mean 1 thing at this time though; She was having more taijutsu training. Kassi slowly stood up and bowed to him though she wanted nothing more than to run out of the clan house and straight to Amika's. One thing he got from his grandmother was the desire to punish mistakes, but he was much more brutal than Lady Chika.
"Good, now today you will be training with Jun and working on your taijutsu, I've been told by your Sensei that your friend... Amika was it? She excels at it while you.... are beneath her." Kassi doubted those were the words Kimo had used, but that didn't stop the feeling of betrayal burning inside of her. She didn't want her clan to become more invested than necessary, but Kimo couldn't always control his mouth.
She decided to answer by nodding and right after Lady Chika snapped her cane at her legs making her jump back.
"That's not acceptable!"
"I'm sorry!" To worsen her embarrassment her voice slightly cracked making her want to be swallowed by the earth, but luckily neither of the other two mentioned it before the elder just sighed and walked to the other end of the room.
"I leave her to you Jun."
"Yes, grandmother."
Kassi took a deep breath and waited for Jun to make the first move. Training in her clan is a lot different from training with her team. When she's with her team, it's encouraging, supportive, helpful. Though training with anyone in her clan is always the same way, cold and calculating. The way to train is to pretend you're a real opponent and force the other person to figure out how to not get killed. Of course, Jun wouldn't actually kill her, but he would have no problem hurting her to teach her a 'lesson', which has happened before.
As she stared at him, it took only 3 seconds before he lunged forward and attempted to elbow her in the stomach, which she easily avoided by quickly placing her hand on her elbow and propelling herself off from it. Unfortunately, before she could even land he was behind her and kicked her in the back hard, making her fly forward, but she didn't even take a second to flip over and land on the opposite side of him.
He stood still and she knew it was her turn to attack. Not wasting any time she ran at him and tried to fake punch his stomach while actually trying to kick his left side, but she wasn't surprised when he brought down a merciless punch to her leg. This had happened before and she knew there was a chance it would happen again, so she used it to her advantage, and she twisted her body, to use her other leg to kick him in the face. Due to the position and the fact that she couldn't put much force behind it, he barely moved back a foot, but Kassi still took that time to jump back and distance herself.
The only reason that worked was because the last time he did that she crumbled to the floor in pain and he probably expected a repeat of that. And although she didn't fall to the floor, her leg was still in a lot of pain, and she definitely wouldn't be able to kick with her left leg for the rest of this session. She shook off the thought and went to attack again, but this time instead of waiting for her he ran at her as well, making her bite her lip before she quickly threw a punch towards his head that he simply dodged and in turn he threw a punch at her stomach, which she also avoided, but she didn't see his other arm in place to attack in case she dodged, which she ended up getting punched directly on the left side of the stomach.
Unlike any of his earlier punches she could feel how hard that one was and she knew immediately that he had infused chakra into his fist for it. She looked up at him in confusion and pain and almost asked why, before she realized that his nose was bleeding a bit. Though her kick didn't have power, she never had gotten him in the face before and he was obviously upset. She gulped as he walked towards her with a glare.
"Get up." He spoke in a demanding tone but she only shook her head. 'If I'd known he would get like this I'd rather have fallen to the floor again.'
"Get up." He said again and she only held her side and shook her head again. Without another word he picked her up and then threw her across the floor, and to her dismay, she had gotten a slight floor burn on her arm.
"Jun, enough!" Right after he threw her Lady Chika stood up and you could tell just by looking at her she was furious.
"You are to train her in a way where she will learn, not beat her without reason! You can not get upset with her for attacking you back, do you understand!" She was yelling and Jun looked down in shame. He wasn't used to her actually hiting him and it showed. The elder then walked over to Kassi and as she passed her grandson she mumbled something to him and he nodded before leaving.
Kassi slowly stood up and removed her hand from her side and looked up at her. Lady Chika sighed, "You'll have a bruise, but it's not anything you can't handle. Go....rest." Kassi nodded and walked out of the training hall and to her bedroom. She wasn't gonna ask any questions or say something dumb just because she never got out of training early, she was just gonna enjoy it.
