Fall came around quicker than a blink of an eye. The air was brisk, and the trees were losing their leaves. That could only mean one thing for students, Quidditch was back. Urquhart, who was in his final year at Hogwarts finally took over the role of Quidditch Captain. The Slytherin team were determined to win this year losing their 7-year streak from before I got here to Gryffindor.
Urquhart sat in the common room every night briefing anyone that would listen on how they were going to dominate this year. I had to give him credit, he did have a good team lined up with him, Vaisey and Blaise as souring Chasers, Crabbe and Goyle were unbeatable Beaters, and Draco as a flawless seeker. After many complaints from the rest of the house Miles Bletchley, our Keeper was replaced by the 5th year named Violetta Sparkes. The house believed we should at least have one female player on the team since we hadn't had one in a while.
One crisp afternoon right before a Hogsmeade visit, Urquhart had the whole Quidditch team sitting in the common room as he roared on about the upcoming match later that weekend. I sat in one of the chairs with a book in my lap watching amused as Violetta was trying to wrangle up the boys together to make a proper plan besides strength and fear.
"Where is Draco? He hasn't come to one practice this week! If he wants to be on the team..." Violetta's shrill voice was cut off by Urquhart. "Don't worry about him Violetta. He will be here. He will also always have a place on this team regardless of how many practices he attends."
Cassius Urquhart was one of the sleaziest guys I ever had the unfortune of meeting. He wanted Draco in his back pocket for the sole reason that he was rich, and his father bought them all brooms a few years back. Thankfully, Draco was incredibly talented on a broom and held the team together against almost all houses except one, one that just so happened to have my twin brother in it.
Draco waltzed into the common room clearly not caring that he was late to the impromptu Quidditch meeting. We had a practice together while everyone was in Hogsmeade today. Draco also had a lot of homework to make up from missing classes. I had promised to help him in exchange for extra practices.
"There he is, my man, our Seeker, Draco come on over, we're planning for our first match against Ravenclaw," Urquhart waved Draco over. I could see the distaste in Draco's eyes as he looked over the Quidditch team.
"There you are. I've been looking for you all morning," Blaise added.
"I was busy," Draco answered giving nothing away. I knew that he had chosen to sleep in this morning do this his exhausting schedule of school, work on Voldemort's wishes, training me and avoiding both Dumbledore, Snape, and Professor Slughorn, he was starting to miss hours in the day.
"Come on Draco we have so much to do," Urquhart piped up again.
"I'm not playing Quidditch this year," Draco said with a shrug, grabbing the textbook from my lap.
The look on Urquhart's face was priceless. He looked like he swallowed a poisonous wasp. His face was every shade of red and purple imaginable. If his brain could, it would have exploded. It was like Malfoy has just told him that had killed his gross cat that was always slinking around.
"Excuse me?" Urquhart was able to spit out, confused and mostly stunned.
"I'm not playing Quidditch this year. I have taken a full course load, I'm too busy," Draco answered giving the usual story he told people when they asked him about his appearance.
"But...but, you're our Seeker. You're the best Seeker. You can't quit Malfoy, you just can't!" He stood up tall trying to bully Draco back on the team, but it had little effect on Malfoy. I could tell with a twitch in his face, Draco was trying very hard not to laugh at Urquhart.
