Fear isn't an unusual emotion for me. But for some reason, this announcement scared me pretty bad. And I'd almost been eaten by a Spider not even three hours ago.
I'd heard of the Order suddenly attacking sometimes but the national guard always quickly neutralized the threat. And if they couldn't, evacuations were always optional. My family always evacuated though, along with Nik's. I could only hope that they got out quick enough. The footage that was shown was really close to my city. I actually believe it was in it.
It must be serious, I thought. I really hope everyone's okay.
Daia laughed. "Well well well, looks like you two just can't catch a break!
"So, are we leaving," Zin asked.
"Well, this time it's mandatory so, yeah I guess," Daia answered.
"And where are we gonna go," Ayven asked.
"An evacuation center maybe," was his response. "Hey, Rylee, Deezul, you two got a family right?" We nodded. "Do you know where-" There was a bright flash of light and Daia was knocked off his perch.
In front of us stood Aizik wearing something similar to what he wore when I first met him, an uniform jacket, tie, and pants. The only difference was that instead of black and gray it was white and gold. He was also holding my puppy, Umbra, and something else I couldn't quite see.
"If you were about to ask me where my family is," Deezul said, "I want you to know that he's right there."
"What in world just happened," Ayven asked. The other two had those words written on their faces. Well Daia at least. Zin looked very amused.
"Look," Zin said with a smile, "When I saw them Spiders explode, I told myself I wouldn't question nothing no more."
Aizik shook his head quickly. "Horrible grammar aside," hebegan, "I'm here to get Deezul and to deliver something to Rylee." He handed me Umbra and the other thing he held, my KaliKitten Haylo.
"Wait wait wait wait," Daia said picking himself up of the floor, "Why do you have a Wolf with you and why are you giving it to Rylee?"
"It's a dog, not a wolf," Aizik said quickly. He looked like he was in a rush. "Ask Rylee everything. Deezul, let's- what the hell happened to you!?!"
"Spiders," Zin and I said.
Aizik shook his head one more and picked up Deezul like a baby. "No time, Rylee, you're lucky I like you or I'd be dragging your ass back to the Light House."
"What happened to no profanity," I asked him. He rolled his eyes hastily.
"No time to catch myself. So goodbye for now." He left in a flash of light before I could ask him what he meant by 'for now.'
Daia looked at where Aizik and Deezul once stood then looked back at me. "Um wanna explain what just happened here?"
For some reason, I told them the whole story but Ayven and Daia didn't seem to convinced. I dint blame them. I didn't expect anyone to believe me.
"Oh come on," Zin said, "How could she make something like that up? Like I said, why question-"
"Yeah yeah, exploding Spiders, magical men, Wolf Pups playfully licking a young girl's face. I know all that stuff probably shouldn't be questioned but there's a freaking Wolf Puppy in our living room playing with some girl I saved in a forest. Wow. That sounds like a cliché Order film."
I was fed up with that. Finally I was out of the Light House but here are three people not much older than me arguing over my credibility. "Look, I love how interested you guys are in this recent chapter of my life, but I gotta try and find my family."
"And the wolf," Ayven asked.
"I'm taking her with me. She's my pet. I can't abandon her."
"Pet," Daia said threateningly. "This deadly and vicious creature is your pet?" Deadly and vicious? I knew Umbra wouldn't hurt a fly. In fact, she's scared of them, butterflies at least.
I tried to keep an even look but I knew it wasn't there. "Yes she is. Her name is Umbra."
"Just get out," Daia said. "Just leave; I don't wanna deal. Nearest town is to the left of this house. Takes maybe thirty minutes to get there.
"Daia, chill out," Zin said, "What's your problem?"
"My problem is that she's a traitor. She's a Chaos." A Chaos is someone who sympathizes with the Order. That was, and still is, about the last thing I consider myself to be.
"I won't have for that," he continued. "She needs to leave in the next three seconds before I do something she won't like." He turned to me. "Well, you gonna stay and fight or are you gonna be a good little girl and leave?"
I wish I could say 'If I had a curatrix I would have stayed' or 'If only I understood these explosions I caused, I would've fought,' but those are lies. I know that I could've had a gun and still wouldn't have fought the boy. I was a coward. I am a coward
I stood up quietly, tightly holding Umbra and Haylo, and left without a word. I heard Daia mutter 'Good riddance' but I'm not sure if I were supposed to hear that or not.
I go left from the house as Daia instructed. I had Umbra in my jacket. He head and paws were sticking out of the top. My plan was to zip her up completely once I got to town and hold Haylo so that I wouldn't be too suspicious. It was about three o'clock so I believe there were a lot of people out.
I was right. There were a lot of cars and trucks moving along everywhere. It almost looked as if there was a panic, which was understandable.
I walked around town to try and find what I was looking for. Umbra was safely secured inside my jacket so it looked as if I were holding a KaliKitten. I bent slightly forward just for good measure.
I found what I was looking for and stood there a long with numerous others. My heart was beating fast as everyone turned to me. I thought maybe someone saw Umbra but then I realized my appearance probably wasn't the best. I'm sure my hair was a hot mess. My clothes I knew to be ripped and torn in some places. They were covered in dirt I'm sure.
Umbra started squirming in my jacket and I could practically see my own fearful look. I thought that she was just trying to get more comfortable but when the bus pulled up and she was still moving, I said a silent prayer that she would calm down.
