When I wake up, I'm holding a blue stick thing, and I scream. It's all pointy on one end and I know Miss Izee, I mean Izzy, and Miss Milee always tell me never to play with anything sharp. It looks like a super long stick with a knife stuck to the top.
They come in running really fast. "What is it Mishel," Miss Izzy says, "And what is that in your hand?"
"I dunno. That's why I screamed." Miss Izzy comes closer and looks at the big blue knife. She nods and turns to Miss Milee.
"Everything matches up. Oddly colored weapon. She was exposed to high levels of radiation. She woke up with it. Her seventh birthday was yesterday. She has Autotelumous disorder."
Miss Milee looks confused. I am too. She used a really big word! "Auto what? What does that mean," Miss Milee asks.
"Auto-telum-ous disorder. Literally it means self weapon having disorder. A lot of younger children exposed to high levels of radiation wake up with weapons after their seventh birthday. So many, that they had to give it a name."
"That makes no sense," Miss Milee says. "How does radiation even amount to that?"
"This is all fine and dandy," I say. "But how do I get rid of this thing?"
Miss Izzy talks next. "I think I read somewhere that you have to concentrate really hard and think about making it disappear." I try that and it works! The big blue pointy stick disappears!
I spent the rest of that day with the other kids I live with. I didn't think once about the big blue pointy stick. Actually, for a long time I didn't. It didn't seem important at all. But it's really cool to show off to people!

It's very pretty outside today. Pretty enough to take a walk, which is what I'm doing. There's a nature trail in a park near where I live. I come here a lot but today is really beautiful.
I've been walking for a while now. It's really peaceful... I think I see something. It's an animal, a really big animaI. It looks like a fox. A really big fox. I've never seen one like that in real life before.
'Cept it doesn't look like anything I've seen in my textbook. It's like three or four feet tall and was really really muscular. Some of its teeth stick all the way out of its mouth and its claws are really pointy. It looks really super scary! Then it turns and looks right at me! It growls and runs towards me.
I scream. I want to run but I can't. It's like my feet won't listen to my head! Wait a second. I feel something wet in my hand. I look down and guess what I see: the big blue pointy stick.
The fox is really close to me and I scream again. I hold out the stick and it stabs the fox in nose. I keep screaming as it keeps running towards me and getting stabbed. Finally, after what had felt like ten hours, someone comes to help me. It's a police officer and she has a gun in her hands. She holds it up and shoots the wolf right in the head. 'Cept, it doesn't die. It just runs away.
The lady picks me up and checks to see if I'm hurt. Other than a little blood from the fox nothing's wrong with me. I tell her where I live and she carries me all of the way there! I keep the blue stick in my hand the whole time. It's still got blood on it and I'm going to show the others that I beat up a fox!

171 years agoThose mutant fox things keep popping up more and more. But there not even the only mutant animal. Nu-uh. There are Eagles, Bears, Spiders, Sharks, and a lot more. Those are the scariest though. I've had to fight quite a few of them. Yeah, I know. Fight animals.
