Chapter Seventeen

Carlos' POV

     "Carlos for the last time tell me what happened and stop glaring at your cake ", my younger brother, Jules said while sipping his coffee.

I didn't reply and avoided his eyes  because I could tell he was glaring at me I knew he didn't appreciate being dragged from his work just to come here and watch me glare at my food and not talk to him.

Yesterday after I left Eli's office I had went on a run but that didn't clear my thoughts and then I went drinking but didn't help too ,so the next morning I decided to spend it someone familiar, and whose more familiar than siblings, I would have gone to my sister but she busy with her kid, so I my baby brother was the next option, and here we are in a cafe with him staring holes in to my face and me pretending not to notice.

With one more pointed look I decided to talk.

"I had a fight with Eli", I said.

"ok , what was it about?", he asked, not seeming surprised.

"well there was rogue gathering yesterday and I didn't tell him ,because I want to keep him safe ,but he doesn't see it from my view and got angry with me saying I look down on him and stuff , but he cant just expect me to sit back and watch him head first into any danger that passes , I am his mate and it is my job to protect him and I cant do that when he is always like this ."

Jules sighed," Carlos your mate is an alpha and he has a pack to look after , you  need to look from his point of view , how can he run this pack when he is being coddled by you, just as it is your duty to protect him it is also his duty to protect the pack ."

"so I should just sit by and watch him get hurt ?"

"no Carlos that is not what am saying , see your job is to protect him not prevent him from doing his duty , you to need stop coddling him he can handle himself , you being overprotective sometimes may look like you are looking down on him and that's stepping on his pride and an alpha is all about pride ,I can imaging how hard it is for him to submit to you, have you even sat down to talk about your relationship in general and how he feels about some certain things."

"Well that is not the point?",I said annoyed

"So ,what then is your point, Carlos , do you want him to hole up in a tower in the middle of a Forrest just so you could perform your duty well , he should abandon his pack and run into the sunset in your arms, just what the hell is your point Carlos you tell me.",Jules said ,I could tell he was annoyed.

I knew I had hit a spot with this conversation .

"I just want him to be safe", I said quietly.

He looked at me sympathetically,
"I know but you have to trust in his strength ,he is an Alpha Carlos, he has his job to do you can't just expect him to drop that , instead of trying to shield him from danger , stand with him and face the danger together, you know subs can be strong too".

I just looked at him in wonder,

"What?",he asked,

"Just when did you grow up , it was just yesterday when you took your first steps", I said.

"I am twenty Carlos ", he replied monotonously.
I laughed "I know , thanks and you're right".

"So now you know, go get your man back",he said chuckling.

I nodded ,smiling at him and he smiled back.

Jules has always been kind of an outsider in our family he didn't interact much with us that's mainly because of the way we treated him, and he definitely didn't like it , especially dad.
Starting from when Jules was born we all knew he was a sub , so our parents were very protective and he was dad's favorite child even though dad would deny it .
Unlike most subs Jules was fierce and quiet he was like a silent bullet , he didn't want to be treated as if he was weak and couldn't take care of himself just because he was an Omega but dad didn't care.
He coddled Jules so much and didn't let him out of his sight , didn't let him train like most pups do , even going for a run was almost impossible and Jules hated it, and to top it off he had a very overprotective elder brother so he was pretty much limited in doing things, and if he wasn't arguing with us ,he was ignoring us.
But after our dad died trying to save him ,it became worse, he blamed himself and shut us out and I became more overprotective almost like I was compensating for dad, his early teens were rough, he wanted to be treated normally not like as if he was going to break at any time ,our fights were epic , when I had gone away I was so much worried about him but seeing him now I knew he had grown up right .

"Back to earth Carlos and finish your cake I need to go back to work ", Jules said bringing me out my train of thought

"Ok".

Eli's POV

I was in my office minding my own business when my devil of a sister barged in accusing me of breaking Carlos heart .

"Why do you think that it was me that broke his heart and not the other way round and why the hell do even know that I had a fight with him", I said annoyed at her for disturbing me.

"Well for one you can never do anything right and two , news travels fast brother dearest ", she said .

"What do you mean I can't do anything right and for your information it was his fault and Wasn't it yesterday that this happened,you need to get a life ", I told her.

"Well I have one and it involves frustrating you",

"Don't you have a mate to disturb, shoo I don't have time to play with little kids", I said.

"I am older than you " she deadpanned "and speaking of mates I just saw yours with a very familiar lady , I believe her name is Annie ".

That peaked my interest.

"So I suggest if you don't want to lose your man to that bitch then you should forgive him for whatever the fuck he did to you".
"You don't get it ,what happened is not about forgiving it is about acceptance ", I told her.

"Well whatever it is about ,do it fast before your man gets stolen".

A/N: I know ,I know it has been long but I apologize am still settling in so updates will be unstable.
