Chapter 1: The Transfer

Today I thought I was able to go on a little break to be able to hangout with family and friends. But two days after my little break Lieutenant Colonel Mia messaged me. Said something about being transferred or something didn't read the entire thing, that was a mistake as what I have seen what he wanted to show me.

     Today was going by as normal, nothing unordinary. Despite me getting a short break from being onbase. It's only like a one week leave, but I needed it. I have been working on training new recruits into their respective stations around the base. Mostly just moving around munitions or simple cargo.

     The walk to the headquarters wasn't far from where I mainly work when not out on patrols or doing training, I was just stopping in to make sure I was cleared to have my leave.

     After some time of talking with the commanders, I headed out passing the guard posts and some of the barracks. The base wasn't terribly big, but was quite big. It was a central base for the airforce, and a training one at large. Heading to the parking lot, I got into my car. And started to drive my way back home. Wasn't too far from the base, only like a good 20 minutes.

     My entire break was planned out, I wanted to be able to fit in the stuff I need to do, whether that be planning, being with friends and family, or personnel matters. Once at my house, I got out and went inside. Then started to head towards the backyard, the sun was just setting. The view from the porch was able to easily see the sunset. The area around the base was quite flat and not many people lived here. They are either living onbase or somewhere else.

     I just sat where I was, not wanting to move or anything. Until I get a call from my phone that I had laying on the table next to me. Transferring the call to my visor, and leaning back more in my chair.

     "Hey vex, heard that you just went on leave. Mind hanging out sometime soon?" One of my good friends always had good plans when there's time to kill. Seeing as i just wanted to relax and not do really anything on my first day on leave. "I'm currently just watching the sunset, not doing anything really. You can come over if you want." I just simply responded, there wasn't much of a yea let's hang out because I wanna hangout and have nothing to do. After saying that, he just hung up and left a message with be over soon.

     It wasn't long till I heard the doorbell ring, getting up and then walking to the front door. Opening the front door, to be greeted by him. He was wearing his usual casual clothes. Stepping aside and gesturing for him to come in, then closing the door behind him.

     Giving him a hug once we were both inside, seeing as I haven't seen him in quite some time. It made sense for him to come over. He returned the hug, before both of us stepped back from each other. "Haven't seen you in some time, how have you been?" I didn't have much to say, just the work I have been doing has been the focus I have been having. "Nothing much, just the base has recently gone into a more active state. Working nonstop everyday." I started to walk towards the backyard again, he followed as we both continued to talk to each other.

     I pulled out a chair for him as I sat down. The conversation we had wasn't all too important, mainly me telling him what's been happening. It was peaceful, just having time off from a job and hanging out with friends.

     As the time went on, it soon turned to be night out. My friend had already left by now, so I headed towards the bedroom of my house. Before succumbing to sleep.

     The following day started to roll around, once up I went outside, I was just walking around the housing area I was in. Seeing as nothing was planned for the current time, I went back inside.

     Pulling up my messages over my visor I saw a message from Lieutenant Colonel Mia, this is strange. He knows I'm on leave, why would he message me?

     Upon taking a closer look, it revealed to me that he was having me being transferred to a new position. It never said a specific position, but it's strange for him to message me. I simply just responded with on my way soon. I didn't expect a response but what he gave me made me slightly excited as he gave a location that I never thought of going.

     I went home to get changed into a better attire. Wasn't completely formal but wasn't casual either. Upon getting done, I got into my car and drove down to the location sent to me by LTC Mia.

     Driving into base was a weird feeling, being that i'm supposed to be on break yet im already back on base. Trying to not waste LTC Mias time any longer. I quickly parked my car then headed towards the hanger.

     Upon reaching the hangers door, LTC Mia opened the door and stepped out. Despite me being on leave I still wanna show him the respect he deserves. Quickly getting into a position of attention and quickly giving a salute. To somewhat of my surprise he saluted back, and on his down motion I dropped my salute.

     "Good evening LT, I see you have responded to my message quite quickly. Good to have you here." Never would I know that I would hear those words again. "Thank you sir, I hope that this is something that would allow me to be in a better position to assist with operating here." I didn't have anything to say, which would look bad with what i'm getting, I responded the best way I can. It wasn't the best but is certainly not the worst I can give

     "I have seen the way that you have improved with how your handling with aircraft both on the ground in the air, I also always heard you had a rather keen interest with the attack variants." As he was finishing saying the last sentence he started to open the door. The hanger wasn't the biggest or the smallest; it was enough to house one of the base's fewest attack helicopters. "After today you will be assigned to him, you're still on break. But you may stop by and go for a quick test flight. But once your break is over you will be having some operations to do with him." I just stood there facing him, Before he started to raise a salute for which I returned

     I started to walk towards the helicopter, admiring it. As I neared its cockpit latches something felt off about it. I felt as tho someone or something was watching. I kepted walking around it, its name was the main thing that made me feel weird being near him as Mia called it.
