-CHAPTER 2--Rei & Kai-
Her eyes are waterfalls as they drag her through the hall. The metal handcuffs cool around her small wrists and the thick leather gloves are icy to prevent her from lighting them easily. She can't get Kai out of her head she needs to get back to him. Needs to explain. Their white armored grip tight around her skinny arm. She can't be here...not now. "Captain, I understand he is weaker than the rest but he has already seen to much, he must be-"
"You are in absolutely no position to address such plebeian matters," A strong voice cuts off the trembling human before him. The Captain examines the terrified man, his jet black hair and matching black eyes. The boy from yesterday is of no threat and hasn't caused any problems since the day he was born. This is the worst time to be wasting precious resources on such a weakly powered Phoenix.
"B-but sir, I believe it be in your best interest to at least go interrogate him what," The man swallows hard and raises his horrified eyes from the ground,"what...what if he r-remembers. We know very well if he remembers the smallest detail from his past it may start a chain reaction. L-like Rei."
"Rei is as much as an issue as Kai. They are weak, little children and we can end them before they even get time to blink." The Captain glances at his guard and the big armoured man ushers the shivering body out the door.
"Kai has the least power of every Phoenix I've ever known. He will go down easy." The captain waves a hand and the guard left, "If so all of them will."~*~
"Don't look so down, Kai!" Tobias nudges Kai and immediately regrets it as Kai turns his head and stares him straight in his bland brown eyes. An apprehensive smile crosses Tobias's face, he turns his head away running a shaky hand through his dark brown hair. Kai grins when Tobias side-eyes him to see if he is still staring.
"Tobias, I'm fine I swear it must've just been a bad dream I guess." Kai watches as people swerve past or move to the opposite side of the hall entirely, some girls swoon, some almost puke and some psychos attempt to jump in their lockers, Kai knows they all find him redoubtable.
"From what you're telling me I-I," Tobias stutters and raises his head to properly see Kai's face. Tobias is of average height in the village some may even say tall yet next to Kai it seems as though he may be an elf.
"What Tobias?"
"Well, as I was walking to school today I smelt smoke. I decided to change my usual route and go towards where the smoke was coming from- the town centre- and the fountain... it was burnt Kai. Completely and utterly burnt. Just like in your dream, your extremely vivid and life-like dream."
Kai doesn't say anything he just looks forward and keeps on walking. He doesn't stop to go into class. He doesn't stop when he walks out the school gate, a school yard full of kids pointing and gossiping. He doesn't stop when he passes the noodle shop and his Father and Aunt Choi ask why he isn't in school, not even a response. He keeps going until he reaches the town centre, the fountain, until he realises Tobias was, in fact, right.
