-CHAPTER 5--Li & Kai-
"It's ok, bud. I gotcha." A wet rag is held to Kai's fore head as he forces open his heavy eye lids. His twin stands over him, smiling down. Kai bolts up so fast that he thinks he may have gotten whip lash. His body is hot and his anger is only just beginning to fade.
"W-where am I? Who are you? What are you doing to me?!" Kai screams staring at his twin.
"Kai, calm down. You should rest, ok? Just lie down and I'll explain everything." Li pushes Kai back down and Kai somewhat let's him.
"Kai, this is going to sound crazy. Or not seeing as you just experienced it but... well, Kai, we are... special, I guess you could say. And because of this there are people who want to hurt us. Who are scared of us, yeah?" Li sits down next to Kai and Kai nods his head.
"I-Is that what happened to the girl?" Kai asks clenching his teeth feeling his skin heat and his anger rise.
"Kai, calm down. That girl was Rei. We knew her before... they came. We were good friends actually. Now, Kai, you have to promise me. Once I tell you and you remember that you don't go after them. I don't want to loose you to, okay Kai? Promise me?" Kai nods and Li smiles.
"I want Rei." Kai tries to jump back up but Li pushes him back down.
"Kai, you need to learn to keep your anger in here." Li points to his head and Kai narrows his brow and grins.
"How do you keep your anger in your head?" Kai laughs.
"Not your head, Kai. Your mind. Make sure when you get angry you incorporate the facts of your anger into your mind but don't let overtake your actions. See if you keep your anger in your heart that's how it fuels the fire but if you keep it in your head, break down and think rationally about the situation you can control it." Li ruffles Kai's hair and gestures for him to try it. Kai thinks of the little girl and how they took her away, her screams, her terror.
"Kai, listen to me. Keep it in your head, think rationally." Kai listens to Li and brings the situation up to his head. Tries to examine it without emotion. Takes the sadness away from the situation and plays it in his head as if he were a movie maker unable to cry at his own movie. Li feels Kai's skin grow less hot and he laughs.
"Yes, Kai! You're doing it!" They both grin and laugh and all Kai feels is happiness for the first time in a long time.~*~
-Rei-
Rei watches as the men's horrid, white armour melts from their bodies along with their skin. She watches their flesh turn black and fall off as they scream in agony. She watches and keeps in her head. She walks past them and they grope at her pleading with burnt, distorted voices. She wonders how some are still alive, speaking even. Must be some kind of invincible pill they give them. Dumb really because it would only make your death slower and more painful if it takes more pain for you to die. One person grabs her leg with a hand that has been burnt to the bone. All that's left is blackened bone.
"You... monster," he croaks staring at her with red puffy eyes. She kicks him in the head and he falls back glassy-eyed.
"You made me this." Rei breaks into a sprint down the hall stepping on rubble and dead bodies. She can feel her bare feet bleeding but she keeps running until she sees light through the roof. She pulls her self through the hole that has taken place in the roof and comes out the other side. She bathes in the sunlight and the beautiful views of trees and veiled of grass and waterfalls far in the distance. Her feet grip to the roof. She is so far from the ground she almost can't see it but she does and it's glorious.
"How will I get down?" Rei wonders looking around. She jogs along the roof and stares into the blue sky. She whistles as loud as she possibly can. A high-pitched noise that he was sure to hear. Then she jumps, falling through the air. The big, scary, white building passing by her. Soon to be a mere memory.
