-CHAPTER 4-

-Kai & Li-

His skin was hot. Not fever hot, no not at all. Not the kind of heat your skin holds in summer as you are exposed to the massive, flaming ball known as the sun. No his skin was boiling, his skin was like white fire. It was so hot that when people attempted to grab him they fell to the ground covered in a blanket of flames, in fact, Kai was probably on fire. He wasn't sure, all he knew was he was scared and angry for that poor girl. That was all Kai felt, not the tentacles of fire lapping at his body, not the people running at him and the things being thrown at him. All he felt was rage. Something is not quite right, people are keeping things from him and that girl is probably in danger. He could've saved her. He should've saved her. He doesn't know what to think but rage. All he knows right now is anger and destruction.

"Kai! Kai!" A voice sounds somewhere behind Kai but he doesn't acknowledge it in his white rage. "Kai, fucking listen to me! KAI!" The voice screams again desperate but this time Kai turns around. Kai laughs, something evil, something dark.

"Kai, it's me, Li..."

"I don't know you." Those words come out simply, Kai's voice is calm and balanced. He stares at the boy in whom the voice belonged to. Li, nope doesn't ring a bell. The one thing Kai does know is this boy looks just like him, identical.

"Yes you do, Kai. Kai, listen to me you know me. Kai, you need to remember." All Kai hears is this Li kid. He just keeps saying Kai's name. Kai sways and Li watches as the fire surrounding Kai calms down, the flames slow.

"I don't feel so good, I-I I feel just a tad icky," Kai slurs, he feels faint. Just a minute ago he was literally on fire. He sways some more, his feet no longer steady as he falls to the ground. Why does this keep happening to me?

-Rei-

"Please, just give me some food!" Rei screams but her pleas just echo down the deserted maze of stone walls. A sigh escapes her chapped lips and she lowers her small body to the hard ground. The room is small and all it contains is a bucket in the corner and a pile of straw that serves as a bed. Crap really, but like anyone here cares for prisoners or, more so Phoenixes. Rei looks around, she has been for ages she can't get over how different this place looks to the rest of the palace... how much it looks like home, even though it is a jail cell. It's just so plebeian, so basic, so homey. It's dumb really, Rei tells herself as she reaches for the USB stick plugged into a port in the wall. The plain White stick and matching USB port look so out of place in this room. She gives the USB a tug and it slips out of the wall. Rei smiles sadly and watches the room change back to its original colours. The walls smooth and White and the jail bars are now a rippling, red electric field. Rei giggles, it's so cool how it works, really. A guard had once told her it's so utterly basic it's depressing. If this is basic Rei can't even imagine what else they may be able to accomplish. How much good can be done. A guard emerges from the labyrinth of now white walls and Rei jumps to her feet.

"You want food, hey?" The guard questions, his voice harsh and cruel. Rei nods, oblivious to his tone. The guard laughs and the sound shakes Rei to the core. She realizes she has made a mistake as the guard steps closer to her cell. Rei moves away, backing up, pushing herself against the wall and squeezing her eyes shut. She doesn't want to watch as the guard pulls a frozen steak from a crate by her cell and then continues inside the small cell. He walks with ease through the field without getting electrocuted, like Rei had the many times she had tried. He rose the frozen slab, hard as rock, over his shoulder then swung it round using all his power slamming it into her small body. Rei whimpers and the guard laughs at that.

"Is that all I get out a ya'?" He asks amused, "I thought you'd scream like a baby. Guess you've realized ain't no one coming to save ya',"

He hits her harder. Rei reaches for her power, tries to find her rage but all she feels is saddness. He rose his weapon. No, I won't let you do this to me.

"Stop! Leave me alone you old bastard!" Rei screams, she still has the power of her voice. She screams louder and the guard is now confused. She grins and skids under him, grabbing his key card from his belt and running through the field.

"Come back here ya, lil' brat!" The guard bellows from the cell. He attempts to go through the field but without his key card he his electrocuted. Rei giggles and runs into the labyrinth of walls. She whips her head from side to side, sizing up her options. She vaguely remembered which way to go after being brought to the cell and even drew it on the wall in case she ever got the chance to escape. She follows the path embedded in her mind. Bare feet padding silently on the floor as she runs, she sprints. Nearly there, so close as she turns one last corner. She follows a stair case up and finds herself in a massive white room connected to some corridors. Nothing more. Just white. Then yelling and foot steps. The guard must've of called back-up on the radio. The Prevennix would of had to of wore off by now. Rei runs toward the sound of the guards now flaming, no 'illegal' medication running through her system to hold her back. She is covered in white flames licking at the walls around her. The fire around her grows and soon enough its touching the roof and walls. The men are so close, they probably even feel her heat already. She channels her inner rage and explodes. Fire ripping down the corridors connected to the large white room. The walls crack and fall in on each other.

Rei hears screams...now's her chance.
